Arrival Story:
I have been volunteering at my local animal shelter since I was laid off from my job last year. I live with my mother and she was adamant that she wanted no more animals after our cat recently passed. I fell in love with many dogs during my time at the shelter, but never asked to adopt one, knowing my mother wouldn't allow it. I did, however, occasionally take dogs out for the day to give them a chance to run around my nice, grassy backyard to get some much needed exercise. Nala and her brother, Simba, had been picked up as strays. Simba got adopted quickly but Nala's people kept falling through. I brought Nala home one day and we spent the entire day with her. She was perfect! Calm, gentle, and loving. The next day, my mother told me we could keep her. I didn't even have to ask. :)
