Arrival Story:
Simba lives with an English teacher and a rescue cat, one block from the beach in Mexico. He has travelled all over the world with his "Mom", helping her teach English to people in foreign countries such as the Dominican Republic, Belize, Poland, France, England, Canada, United States, Spain and Portugal. He loves to fly, especially when he goes to visit his "Grandma" in Canada every year! When he jumps in his travelling crate, he knows there's going to be something exciting waiting for him at the other end of the flight.

Simba is 13 years old now, and is slowing down just a little, but finds time to groom the cat nightly and check out the beach every day. He's just been diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy and epilepsy ... heartbreaking! But he doesn't seem to be in much pain, so we hope to have him around to cheer up our lives for a good while longer.

Toe cancer

In January 2008, Simba was diagnossed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (cancer of the toe). Research at the University of Guelph shows that the vast majority of dogs who get this disease are large breeds, especially with black coats. Of these breeds, Standard Poodles have the greatest incidence of the disease. Most sufferers report a recurrence, and Simba's carcinoma recurred in January 2012. The second toe was removed, and he's doing well. For more info, see: UPDATE: Sweet Simba passed away May 23/12. There were just too many hwalth problems and he was so very tired. He was gently layed to rest under a beautiful guayaba tree near the ocean. His family is heartbroken, and will never forget his unconditional love.
