Arrival Story:
We saw an ad for Emma on Craigslist and gave the owners a call. We had heard about people looking for free dogs on Craigslist and selling them to people or to laboratories for experiments. When we contacted the owners we informed them that we could give vet and personal references, but they required none of these. This worried us a bit, so we decided to go visit Emma right away.
When we first met Emma, we instantly fell in love and decided to take her home. Although a bit shy, skittish, and unsure at first, Emma warmed up to us and quickly became "Mommy's Shadow". She follows me everywhere!
Soon after we came home with her, we realized why her owners were so eager to find a new home for her. She has started her first heat cycle at 7 1/2 months old and she is unaltered. This didn't change our minds about our Emma. We simply bought her doggie diapers and scheduled an appointment to have her spayed after her cycle.
Emma is a Lab and Beagle mix, and is very affectionate.
