Arrival Story:
We'd been looking for a dog, and while at the Chicago animal control we were looking at another younger dog, where "Lionel"(Byron) was across the way. We imediately were interested in him, he was calmer than the others, and was in the best behavior. We took him out and knew he was the one, and we were unable to adopt that day because he needed to be neutered and such. A week later we adopted him and brought him home. They had him labeled as a Pit Mix, I believe he is Pit, Mountain Cur mix. His fur and ability to find coons was all Cur heh. Due to the change in his energy level from 6 months to 15 months, I opted for what was better for my dog, and found him a home with a young man who runs him every morning. I was stressed and could not keep up with his energy, as well as my fiance had been suffering with allergies only with this pet, so why keep him when now he has the perfect home, right? UNFORNUTATLEY, BYRON'S ADOPTIVE OWNER DID A 180% CHANGE AND HAS BEEN ARRESTED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY TOWARDS BYRON! He dumped boiling water on him when he was outraged seeing the dog have an accident in the home. This man was going to school for criminal justice and we never could of imagined he would harm Byron. Byron suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on half his body, and went a week with out vet care. Thankfully, he has been treated and readopted out by the society that investigated the tragic report. He has a new home and is healing, but we can not stop spreading the word about what happened. Please visit Byron's FB page and sign the petition against the abuser to be charged a felony instead of a misdemeanor, and to be barred from going to college for criminal justice and represent the state college sport team. Thank you. ons-Pain-Misdemeanor-Animal-Cruelt y-Charges-Not-Enough/3297035870422 44

Byron is a typical BOY. Wants to know all there is to know, and knows how to push buttons. On the other hand, he is my velcro dog, and wakes me up every morning with soulful eyes. He is quit content just following us around and sleeping at our feet. At first our cats(on Catster) wanted him GONE, but eventually when they finally met Byron submitted to them and he now knows they own this house and he gives them lots of respect. He is learning so much. Right now he knows : Sit, Down, Head Down, Sit Up, Crawl, Shake, High Ten, Sit Pretty, Dance, Stay, Down Stay, Get it, Bring it, Leave it, Wait, Come Here, On the Bed, Off the bed, Down Stairs, Up stairs, Slow Down, No.
