Arrival Story:
Huckleberry was a stray in Missoula Montana and my wife found him online at petfinder. Her and my daughters and a friend drove the 250 miles in a snow storm and knew as soon as they saw and met him he was our boy. All the other dogs at the shelter were barking like crazy, but Huck sat up and wagged his tail and didnt bark like they were his family all along. We do not know where he came from or how he ended up a stray, all we know is we are very gratefull he is part our family now.

Bio:
Huck loves to run. He ran away 3 times the first couple of months we had him but would always return after a few hours. He is fast. An e collar helped out alot. He loves to hunt birds. He really loves to be out in the field. He starts shaking with excitement as soon as we leave town. As soon as we are parked he bolts out the door and runs like crazy for a few minutes then settles down and starts his hunting.

Huck had to have emergency surgery over the weekend. He had a bowel obstruction caused by eating a ball. A piece of which lodged in his samll intestine. He is doing much better now and have a hard time keeping him quiet. Have made a sweep of the yard and house to remove any more things he can chew up and swallow. Gonna have to be carefull about what he gets from now on. Very gratefull we have good vets in Great Falls that are available on weekends for emergencies.

End of upland bird season.

Huck has had a great 2nd season of hunting we are both sorry it is over. I am sure glad I found some public ground just outside of Great Falls that we have been to alot. It has a few birds (Pheasant and Grouse) on it and is only 10 minutes from home. We logged a lot of miles there. He is sure a mellow dog at home and carries his ball all over the house. With the warm weather we are able to get out several times a week for off leash adventures and even if the season is over he still finds birds out in the grass lands to point. He is my good buddy.

Huck is having a great fall.

We have been out hunting every chance we get. I have been on call for the past several days and Huck does not understand why we can't go out when the weather is so nice. He has been very good at pointing and retrieving although he did leave me all alone in a ravine while he chased after some deer. He is a great pal to have around, so easy going. He gets along great with our new GSP Sadie who we adopted in August. He has alot of teaching to do as she is not ready for hunting yet.
