I couldn't walk to far once I got sick. Laying out in the yard after mommy carried me to lay in the grass when I could't walk any more.

Arrival Story:
This was the e-mail I received about Charlie dated 1-31-03. there is a beagle named Charlie he is 8 yr old and his owners wanted to have him PTS because they didn't want him anymore. well a kindhearted lady convinced the vet office not ot do it but Charlie has been at the vet for a month now.They are getting to their limit for him and if someone cannot take him they are going to kill him not because he is sick or not a good boy but because no one wants him. He is neutered and utd on his shots. Charlie is a real sweetie. He likes belly rubs and just wants to be loved. He keeps his kennel very clean and it is unfair that he could be PTs just beacuse his owners got tired of him......
Bio:
Two weeks later Charlie became our foster beagle through Animal Service League in Rochester, NY. www.amimalserviceleageny.org We drove about three hrs each way to get him. It was sooo worth it. He was such a love and sooo smart. Someone took the time to train him and I don't know how they could get rid of him. We think that his owners knew he was ick and didn't want to take care of him.We took him to the vet and found out that he had Cushings disease. He was treated with meds and all of a sudden got very sick. Well come to find out all the meds gave him Addisons disease which is the opposite of Cushings. He could not be cured only treated. He was a very sick boy. For a while he lost use of his back legs. We had to carry him around and outside and he dragged his legs around. He was trooper through it all. He was not much of a kisser but one time he did kiss me. I went to visit him at the vet he was hooked up to his IV and wanted to come home so bad. He gave me a kiss that day. I knew how much he loved us and appreciated all we were doing for him. He did get well enough to come home again. He was doing better then ever and he collapsed one night and died. It was very hard for me. He lived with us only 8 short months. He only went to one adoption day before he got sick. I knew he would never get adopted and I knew his last home would be ours. He is sadly missed by all of us. I thank Animal Service League for paying for all of his vet bills and for my husband for helping me take care of him. I would do it all again just to have the short time we did have together on this earth. I know we will be together again someday at the bridge. We love you and miss you Charboy. 8-1-95-9-30-03
