Arrival Story:
Hi everyone, I’m Happy Jack, you can call me Jack for short though. I’m at my new foster home and I’m settling in nicely! When I first got here, I had to get refreshed on my manners. You see I was in boarding for 42 days, so I kind of forgot some of them. I’m doing great though, and I’m taking direction very well from my foster parents. I have met my fur siblings, a female boxer mix, and a male boxer. I have done great with both of them, and love to play. The female is still a little scared of me because I’m so much bigger than she is, but I just want to play with her. Mom says she will come around the more she gets used to me. I’m doing great with my obedience. I know how to sit, lie down, come, and wait. I’m working on stay, but that is harder because I want to be wherever my foster mom is, but I’ll get it with time. I like to chase small animals, and since I’m so big, sometimes I pull really hard on the leash to get to them. I have made tons of improvement though and mom says I am like a different dog now on leash! She has been teaching me to heal, and to refocus me when I see something I want to go see or chase. Mom thinks that maybe when I was younger I wasn’t walked a lot, so walks are very stimulating for me. She thinks the more and more I walk, the better I’ll get, and the more I’ll relax. I will need someone that can be stern with me, and make me walk nicely, because I will use my size to try and get what I want. If you can show me that you are my leader though, I will never let you down, and will look to you for everything! I am great with everyone, big or small. But I do get excited when I first meet people, and I may sometimes knock little kids over but I’m not mean to them. My mom makes me lay down so that I calm down then I don’t accidentally knock them over. I love to play with any toy I can find. I will sit and play with a toy by myself for a good solid hour then, I like to nap for a while. I’m a very relaxed dog in the house and just enjoy chilling out with my family. I love to go out and see things too, but again, you just have to tell me what is expected so I don’t try to pull you all over the place. Mom says my house manners are perfect. I will go in a crate if you want, but I can be left un-crated and won’t mess with a thing. I am perfectly house trained, and will never go in the house. I know that I’m not allowed to go in the kitchen, and if there is a second where I forget, mom just says “out” and I get right out! I also sit and wait patiently before going in or out of doors, and I will also sit and wait until my mom says I can eat my food. She says that is polite, and that way kids or anyone can feed me and I will be patient until I’m told I can go to my bowl and eat. I’m really a great boy, but like most boxers, I need someone to show me that they are my leader! Could you be my leader?? Please put an application in with my name on it, and maybe we can meet or you can find out more information about me. You won’t be disappointed, I make everyone “Happy”, and that’s why they call me Happy Jack!

Bio:
He needs to be in a home with someone that will be stern with him, and show him who his leader is. Needs work on: We are continuing to work on his leash skills, but he is doing great! Needs work with small dogs, and meeting dogs in general. He gets very excited.
