Arrival Story: 8 years after my parents put down our Beagle, my dad finally felt recovered enough to get a new dog. Several friends of the family had Shih Tzus, and my dad loved the way their eyes seem to pop out of their heads. With his blessing, my mom and I went to a breeder (we didn't think about rescuing then). We wanted a female, since they supposedly make better pets (an unfair bias!), and there she was, playing tug-of-war with a male of the litter using a stuffed cow as bait. We really wanted the male, too, but my dad said no; one dog was adequate. So we took her to my dad at work, set her down on the floor - where she collapsed - and we all fell in love. My dad then said "Go get the male" and we called the breeder just as she was about to close the deal with another parent-to-be. How lucky we were!!!
Bio: Max's hair grows extremely quickly, so he always needs a haircut. We tend to call him Ringo since his hair usually covers his eyes.
We are also busy advocates for the National Alliance for Autism Research and the Alzheimer's Association. You can join us on April 8, 2006 as we Walk F.A.R. for NAAR. Exercise your paws and raise awareness for a cause!

Favorite Person: Katie
Today was our first day at doggy daycare. I love to sniff, don't get me wrong, but it just takes everything out of you! And the playing, oh! the playing! I am just exhausted!
Annie's not perfect, no matter what doctor says it. She gets all this attention and for what?! So she had surgery. When I had surgery, I had to go live with Grandma and Grandpa! I couldn't even stay at home! Just because they feed me whenever I want and whatever I want and let me sleep with them does NOT make it okay... maybe a little okay...
Katie won't get off her computer, and she's making us watch the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet! Even her husband won't stick around and watch this silly show, but we don't have a choice! I normally don't mind the excuse to sleep; I need my 20 hours a day!
Today is different, though. Katie is not working! I just want to go outside and eat things I'm not supposed to! I never get to do that anymore! She's always out there with me, and my sister has to be there, too. She is so annoying! She always wants to play and she always wants attention!
Wait! I'm hungry! Oh, yeah. I'm always hungry. Maybe if I bark to go outside, Katie will forget she fed us and give us food when we come back in! She's never done that, but maybe today!
