SAD*SAC (Save-a-dog*Save-a-cat) rescued a couple of puppies from being killed at a high kill shelter out in Lake County. When they were brought to show for adoption the weekend after we got them, I noticed one little white and brown pup was just shivering in the corner looking very scared. I came to learn that she was extremely skittish of strangers and loud noises. Despite her problem, a couple adopted her and named her Mersey. A year later, Mersey was being returned due to her owners having to move to England and not being able to take their girl with them. She remembered me right from the start but was still very skittish with strangers. She has now been back with us for 4-5months and is still looking for a new forever home.
Mersey is an amazing girl with some special needs. She has anxiety with strangers, men more so then women, but warms up to new people in about 30min. She is truely a wonderful dog, and one of the smartest dogs ive ever worked with. When she first came to our rescue as a pup she was the last of the pups to get adopted. I only spent 4 days with this girl as a pup but a year later she remembered me just by the sound of my voice. She has one amazing memory. I have been working with her since she has been returned to us and she is improving greatly. She is also starting to kick her protective habit. I always tell her, Its appreciated but not needed lol. She is a great girl and I would take her in a heartbeat if I could. Mersey is a very smart girl and listens to her commands extremely well and even knows a few tricks. Everyone at the rescue loves this girl and I havent met anyone yet that has met her and not fallen in love with her. She LOVES other dogs and loves to run and play. I call her a 45lbs Jack Russell as she has that terrier energy. She is a very affectionate dog and she loves attention from the people she trusts. Her ideal home would be with an experienced dog person with a fenced in back yard and another young, energetic, dog her size or larger to play with. Please help this girl find her perfect forever home.

Since the last entry...Mersey has been doing better and LOVES her current foster home. She is going to be working with a professional trainer with her anxiety.
Mersey- Today was not a good day. I was stuck in a kennel with people called vets. They kept poking at me and I had to wear a think around my mouth. I didnt like it. Sara said it was going to make me feel better and the mouth thing was so I didnt hurt anyone. I havent been feeling good and am having trouble going potty =(. The person in the coat gave me a shot that made the pain go away a little bit. They finally brought me out and gave me to Sara and then I saw my foster mommy and sister and went home to play.

Mommy and daddy brought me back to Petsmart today and was happy to see Sara again. Mommy told sara she was happy I remembered her and that Sara was so good with me.
Sara put my special harness on and brought me over to the tent where everyone was. The lady that took care of me when I was a puppy was there too. I was happy to see her =).
There were many dogs there that I didnt know. Most of them were girls so I didnt really like them. There was one boy dog there though. He was smaller then me and his bark kind of sounded like a howl. I heard someone call him a beagle, whatever that is. His name is Snoopy, hes my new friend. He does jump on me sometimes and everyone always tells him no and someone said something about him not doing that once hes neutered, so many strange words.
Sara brought me inside and started talking to a lady. They both sat on the floor with me and she gave me some treats. I was nervous at first but she didnt try to pet me cuz sara said just to just say Hi and not pet me. After a few min of them talking I layed down cuz i realized she wasnt going to hurt me. She had to go, something about cats, and sara brought me back outside.
We sat outside under the tent for a while, sara said it was so people could see me. I liked laying in the grass with Snoopy. There was a lady sitting in a chair next to me and kept throwing me food. After sitting by her for about an hour she tried to pet me and i rolled on my back and let her scratch my belly. Sara said something about the bathroom and let the new volunteer, sara called her wendy, that I let pet me hold my leash. She said not to pet me and dont let anyone else pet me. I liked that because I didnt feel safe with strange people trying to pet me when sara wasnt there. I decided to lay under wendy's chair. Sara was only gone about 5 min and I was really happy when she came back.
Later that day sara was sitting in a chair talking and I sat next to her and she was petting me. She looked at me and said "Mommys here" and I got really excited. I started looking around like crazy and saw mommy come out of the car. She came over and talked to sara and said hi to me and then I saw Shadow, my big "brother," stick his head out of the car window and mommy opened the door and I jumped in. Sara told mommy that I did better today and told her that I let Wendy pet me. Then Sara said see you next week and mommy brought me home.
