I did good!

I really haven't been doing much since my last post until yesterday.

Yesterday we had our search training at Blue Marsh. Grandma went with mom and I this time. She was a subject (the person who just sits and us doggies find them). Unfortunately she was the subject for the trailing dogs so I didn't get to find grandma this time, but mom promised that next time she'll be subject for us air scent dogs. Yipee I'll be able to look for grandma!

This was the first time that I did all three scenerios. The first one I didn't do too good at. I found the person, but because I'm still having problems with my "recall/refind" I didn't go to her like I was suppose to. Plus, I went through the really thick stuff so mom couldn't follow me and I kind of got stuck for a few minutes in the thick briars. Don't worry, they didn't cut me. I finally got back with mom and the subject and the subject played with me for a while. Tiffany (one of the air scent handlers) talked to mom a while and the next scenrio I did, which was a while later, we shortened a bit. I did better this time. I had to clear a big field with a hedge row in it. Mom started me on one side, but right away I caught the scent and went through the headge row to the other side. Yep, you guessed it, right through the thick stuff again. But unlike last time, I didn't get stuck. However, it did take mom and little while to get through it. Sorry mom! I found my subject pretty quick and this time I did much better with my recall/refind. I hit mom three times then the subject played with me the entire way back to the car. Tiffany and Sue (another air scent handler) told mom that the subjects need to play with me after I find them so I get over my "stranger danger" that us Aussies are so found of. Well it was working. By the third scenerio I was rolling. It was a big field and the breeze picked up, but I had no trouble finding my subject. He was laying on the ground covered up with some camo thing so I couldn't find him... sorry dude, but I did! This time my recall/refind was the best I've ever done. I gave mom three hits again and took her right to him. He played with me the whole way back again. Everyone was very happy with how well I did from my first search to my last. Mom and I just have to keep working on the recall/refind and "stranger danger" with shortened scenerios. They all told mom that I get my job in searching for people, now I just have to get the end game (recall/refind) then I'll be back to do full scenerios. All I know is I had a lot of fun and mom was VERY proud of me:) I also know I was sooooo tired by the end of the day that I was a little grumpy when Tiffany came to my crate to pet me that I gave her a little growl. I didn't mean too, I was just tired and I didn't want to be bothered. She wasn't upset and understood totally. Sorry Tiff! Needless to say I slept the entire way home. Once we got home, I napped while mom unloaded the car from all our gear. I ate dinner then slept from then on out. I did have a great time and can't wait til next month for our next training session. I know I'll be practicing with mom in between too.

Well, that's all I've been up to. Tonight Chloe is going with mom to visit Country Meadows and I would really like to go, but I know I was with mom all day yesterday so tonight is Chloe's turn. See I can share:)
