Arrival Story:
A week before I started college, my first and only dog, Lindsay passed away. I was completely devestated and felt incredibly alone. After about a year, I decided I was ready to take on a new dog and let my boyfriend in on my decision. That Christmas he surprised me with my new baby, Lakota. I've never been so happy in my life. It was like the birth of a child. She immediately meant the world to me.

Lakota is a full blooded Alaskan Malamute from Ohio. She is training to be a service dog for a local hospice! :)

Life has been moving so quickly lately! Mommy & Daddy are getting "married" and I am going to be the "ring bearer". I don't really know what all this means, but they seem to be super excited, which makes my tail wag. :3

Mommy also has a new job, so now she takes me to Barkefellers Doggy DayCare near her work. I love it there! I get to play with so many new dogs and you all know how much I LOVE making friends.

The seasons have changed and it sure is hot... Mommy still takes me on walks and pulls but we keep them short and followed by a swim in a pool. :3

My birthday!

Today was my first birthday! My mommy & daddy threw a big birthday party for me the day before. It was soooo much fun! I helped mommy bake cupcakes for my friends and I and I got to help clean the bowls and spoons, which was a very tasty job!

I got to meet a couple friends at the dog park first. We ran around and met a new doggy named Rose. She sure was happy to see me! I played with Nook, my crush, and Foxy. Foxy was so silly. Mom calls her a Corgi. I don't know the difference though. We all just smell like dogs to me. :3

After we got wore out, mommy drove me back home where daddy was waiting with lots of food and presents and dog decorations. They even made me wear a silly party hat. It was funny to see all my friends wear one too. Aunt Zoey was there waiting for me and I got to meet baby Oliver for the first time. He is SO small! Mommy told me I had to be very gentle because he only weighs 4 pounds and according to her I weigh 85 pounds. I don't know what that all means, but he sure was fun to play with!

All my friends got me cool toys and treats and I was so excited to try them all out today. I even took one to the dog park today and shared it with Nook.

Good-bye Grain

Last week, mommy told me she was diagnosed with "Celiac Disease". I wasn't too sure what that meant, but she said she was sad she wouldn't be able to eat her favorite foods anymore. In the week that has past, she seems to be a lot happier though. She has a lot more engery, so we can play together longer, and she doesn't sleep a lot anymore, so our naps have been cut short. I was so happy to see her feeling better. :)

Yesterday, I was incredibly confused. Mommy came home and cried. I tried to play with her, but she just shooed me away and cried harder. I didn't understand what was wrong, so I just layed with her until she was ready to talk. Finally, she hugged me and explained how hard it was to not eat "grain" food. She told me she really missed things like donuts, and rolls, and even oatmeal. I couldn't help but laugh at mommy.

I gave her lots of kisses and wiped away her tears. I reminded her I can't eat those things either but I'm a happy dog. I have a grain allergy too so I can't eat the tasty things mommy was always eating. After she realized this, she hugged me tight and gave me lots of kisses. I know she loves me more than anything and I hope she knows how much I love her.

She assured me I would make people at the "hospice" just as happy as I make her. I hope I make her proud. :3
