I am so sorry to report that Jessie, beloved friend of Erik, and treasured member of John and Brooke's family, recently lost her battle with cancer. John and Brooke are dear friends of mine, and I was fortunate enough to be able to watch Jessie whenever they went on vacation. She was an amazing Golden, and such a loyal friend for John.
Jessie passed gently at her home, and John and Brooke were there to comfort her during this final journey. John was able to lay Jessie to rest in her beloved mountains of Colorado, and built a small, but beautiful memory garden in her memory.
Everytime I see a tennis ball these days, I smile and think of Jessie! She will certainly be missed.

Jessie continues to feel a little better each day. Her left eye, where they did surgery, is starting to look a bit more like a normal eye and less like she lost a fight with a woverine. She is very good about taking her medicine and even allows me to apply her eyedrops and wipe the goo out of her eye twice a day. She really looks forward to tromping about in the back yard each day, although she would much rather be playing with all of the other dogs (as opposed to marching around with a cone on her head). However, she is quite a trooper as we continue to work on getting her better. This afternoon we even played a little tennis ball catch in the kitchen, which was quite a treat if her waggie tail was any indication!!

Jessie is recovering from some surgery to remove some questionable tumors from around her eyes. While she recovers, she is staying with Yoshi, Bear and Scout. Poor Yoshi is also recovering from a pulled muscle that has her limping pretty bad. We are busy setting up beds and arranging a food and potty schedule that will accomodate our recovering girls and let the healthy critters romp and play as well.
