Today was exciting! We went to go to PetsMart to walk around and see everyone. Toopie is so cute everyone wants to touch him. (Too bad he hates that).
We also went to see his best friend Clubber (the fat beagle) at my best friend Megan's house. They ran around for hours before we took a long walk. Clubber could hardly stand (so much movement!). On the way home Toopie fell asleep in my lap.
When we got home daddy was there. He made us dinner and snuggled with us on the couch!
It was a fun day!

Welcome to the story of our lives. Well...more importantly the life of our newest member Toopie. I just wanted to introduce the "cast" for future reference (and I have about an hour to blow waiting to go home). No need to remember everyone...seriously I'm just bored.
Toopie: Our little Chihuahua, the star of our show, born in early December of 2009. He is light brindle colored. Weighing 5lbs 14 ounces (as of August 2010). His ears were "broken" in his first family and as a result will never fully stand up (we think he's cuter that way anyhow!). He loves wearing clothes, getting baths, going to school, brushing his teeth, and riding in the car. His best friend is Clubber a fat Beagle.
Binoo: Toopie's favorite toy. A red stuffed furry dog. We always know Toopie is close because of Binoo's squeaking body.
Albert: Toopie's daddy (human) and my wonderful and loving husband. We were married in January of 2010. He is from Canada and is a stay at home dad (with Toopie). No kids.
Danielle: Toopie's mommy (human) and me. I am a full time student at our local university and a full time employee at a local coffee shop.
Colton: Toopie's uncle (human) and my younger brother. He is a high school student that comes and lives with my husband and I every other week. Toopie loves to attack him when he is playing his video games.
Del: Toopie's grandpa (human) my father. He's around a lot. Toopie follows him around hoping for food.
Heidi: Toopie's grandma (human) my mother. We visit her house a lot, Toopie likes her a lot. She gives us gifts!
Jaspal (JP): Toopie's grandpa (human) my step father. Tallest guy we know, and one of the only guys Toopie likes a lot.
Rose: My kitty that is living at my mothers house. I love her to death and had to leave her behind when I "grew up". She teases Toopie a lot.
Megan: One of my best friends. Toopie loves her and her hair (we don't know why). Plus she's the owner of Clubber!
Clubber: Toopie's best friend. Clubber is probably the fattest beagle in the world. He is the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever met. He loves everything and everyone.

Toopie. What can I say about the ball of fur and energy that has turned my life around. My husband (Albert) and I (Danielle) are young newly weds and have wanted to get a kitten for a while. (A Kitten? This is Dogster you crazy lady). Yes our search started for a kitten. But our landlord didn't want us to get one even though pets are aloud. We were sad but accepted our fate. We are lucky to be able to have our Chinchilla Churro.
A few weeks past after we were told no, and our land lord agreed to let us get a kitten. Then changed his mind...then changed his mind again. We were so upset at the constant changes of hearts that we just gave up. The our landlord said maybe we should get a dog. (He had bad luck with cats apparently). So we said, oh sure! After work I jumped in my car and went to the local animal shelters. Pit bulls. All Pit bulls. Don't get me wrong, I love pit's so sweet and friendly, but we knew the second we said pit bull to our landlord he would change his mind again. (He's in the family, so we have to put up with it).
After hours looking I decided to check craigslist. We were looking for a medium size dog. Something cute, easy to groom, good with people, not high maintenance. But the landlord called in the middle of my search. "You can only get a dog that's smaller than a cat" ...really? Seriously? We were annoyed at this point. "Chihuahua." The only word out of my husbands mouth before I put it in the search. There were a lot of ads, but we didn't want one from a breeder, too easy, too expensive, plus there are so many dogs that need homes. After seeing a lot of cute puppies I started calling just to see if the pups were even still available.
"8 month old puppy needs home!!!!" was his title. A little thumbnail picture was attached. My husband fell in love immediately. He was cute, small, and a boy. I read the description. The women was a young mother to two children under 5. She had a full time job and left the puppy outside all day and in his kennel all night. She knew it wasn't fair. I called her phone number and left a message assuming he was taken. My husband was upset after a few hours of waiting for a call.
That evening (5:00 pm probably) I was calling someone (who I later found out was a breeder) when I got a call. I didn't want to be rude so I let it go to voice mail but quickly called back after I got off the phone. It was the women. She told me her puppy was still available and I should come meet him. Tonight. I was taken aback at her forwardness but my husband quickly agreed we should meet him tonight. I reluctantly agreed. We drove to her home, it wasn't in a very nice part of town (not that I judge, just a observation).
We knocked on her door and the barking started. She invited us in holding back this demon chihuahua. He looked like he wanted to kill us. We walked into her living room. She told us he wasn't potty trained (she let him pee and poo everywhere). He didn't have his shots and wasn't neutered. He didn't seem like a match to me. But my husband wanted to give him a chance. So I agreed and that night (same day we started looking) we took home "Biscuit". We took him home first he hid in the corner (at least the insane barking stopped). We thought about what to do. She gave us about 2 days worth of food, a disgusting kennel and a grimy leash. We needed doggy stuff. So PetSmart is where we went. My husband carried him the whole time. $200 later we went back home.
Now a month later he is our baby. We do everything with him. He is potty trained, in school, up to date on shots, and neutered. He doesn't bark like a demon at anyone and is the most playful little pooch I have ever seen, plus the first dog I have ever owned.
I went to wanting a cat - to a big dog - to being a Chihuahua lover.
