Arrival Story:
Jan 2009 I had to make the hardest decision of my life it was time to let my Reese go….. After fourteen years her life was slipping away I watched a dog filled with energy slow down, loose her eye sight, hearing, and weight. Her last 6 months I carried her in and out of the house, because she was having trouble walking and would fall. I would say to her please don’t make me make this decision I can’t let you go….. Then one night she fell and couldn’t get up she looked at me and I will never forget that look….. I slept on the floor that night next to her bed and said ok I think it’s time to let you go I love you too much to see you in pain. I called the vet and made the appointment, but I want one more week I needed to say my goodbyes….the next night Reese started to have shallow breathing and again I slept on the floor listening to her breathing I cried knowing that I couldn’t wait another week…so I called the vet in the morning and said today I love her to much to see her suffer…. We took her into the vet my husband carrying her in and placing her on the table….those finale moments I held her and I whispered you will soon be free from pain, and now my beloved Reese in heaven you will be able to go get your balls, and as she took her last breath I told her with all of her issues she was my perfect dog and that I loved her. For months I was a lost mother without her child….So to heal my pain I started to work for an shelter I wasn’t ready for a new dog but needed that four legged companionship!!! Then a family lost their home brought in four chocolate lab puppies along with the mother a yellow lab and the father a chocolate lab to the shelter. Something happened inside of me, and I called the shelter asked them to hold one of the female puppies for me to look at. The next day there was only one puppy left the female that they were holding and when they put her in my arms she looked at me and my heart healed. Now I was volunteering at this shelter for about 4 months, and I saw 100’s of dogs and puppies but never had that feeling…… When they asked me do you want her I looked around the shelter, and said yes I am not letting her go!!!! We named her Snickers, and she is the joy of our family who loves everyone…….

Snickers is part of the Novak family, and who has soulful eyes. Snickers and I also enjoy Rally training and just having fun... I always had a dream to do Art Therapy and to work with children. Also I have a love for animals, so after my dog of 14 years passed away I started to Volunteer at an Animal Shelter. After adopting Snickers who is so loving and calm I decided it was time for my dream, and see if Snickers and I can try for Dog Therapy in 2011. Even if Snickers can't pass her Dog Therapy test we can say we tried....but she has already passed the test of the Novak family, and no matter what she will always be a part of our family.

Snickers is part of the Novak family. Snickers is a 1 year old Chocolate Lab who has soulful eyes. Our goal is for a Dog Therapy certificate, so she can help others heal with her expressive eyes and loving nature.

You can find her on Facebook: rney/303775991627?v=app_6261817190&ref=ts#!/pages/Snickersth e-Chocolate-Labs-Journey/303775991627?v=wall

I am not a trainer, just someone who wants to remember her journey with her special Chocolate Lab. I hope as the years past Snickers touches other lives like she has touched mine. One day I will look back and remember Snickers, the Chocolate Labs Journey.
