Arrival Story:
Back in 2006 we had to put down our German Shepherd of 8 years. It was very hard on our family and I wasn't sure I would be able to ever accept another dog into my life. Then in 2008 I was finally ready to find another dog. In July I went to a local shelter with my Mom and in the firt kennel was Max, sitting as close to the cage door as possible just pleading with his eyes for me to love him and take him home with me. My Mom wasn't as sold on the idea as I was. She was looking for a small lap dog that didn't shed a lot, completely opposite of our 100+ pounds German Shepherd. So we finished looking at all the dogs at the shelter, but none called out to me the way Max did. We were able to take him out and as soon as we did he jumped into my Mom's lap and she fell in love with him. My life changed that day, and I will forever be thankful. He needed to be saved that day, but little did I know how many ways he would save me.

Finding my heritage

Today I am one step closer to finding what breed I am. My owner has been curious since she brought me home and was on the computer for a couple of hours while I was sleeping and came across the Australian Kelpie, something I have never heard of before. She even showed me some pictures and I must say we are a good looking breed. I would be very happy to be called a Kelpie. I am curious though how being an Australian dog, I ended up in Oklahoma. I was just a young pup when I ended up at the pound so I don't know where I came from. My owner worries about what happened to me before she met me. I tend to be a little skittish around ropes and wires and I used to be scared to put on my leash and harness anytime I would go anywhere. My owner takes real good care of me though. I never would have imagined anyone would love me as much as she does, and I just hope I can repay the favor. I really enjoy it when we sit and watch movies together, or rather she watches and I sleep by her side. Tonight we watched Elf and Pretty Woman. I am so exhausted I can barely keep my eyes open. Will write again soon.
