Our Best Friend!

Max the "Model" Dog

A friend of my niece's is getting a diploma in digital photography, and for homework she had to photograph a pet. Not having a pet of her own, my niece offered Max to be her model. Naturally, he was a wonderful subject! He sat, he ran, he fetched, and Shulamis took a lot of terrific pictures. I think the one we've posted of Max running with his ball really captures his character. Chasing balls up and down the hill in our back yard is his favourite activity. Others will be posted as Shulamis sends them.

Meet Max!

Max is about two years old. We don't really know-- he was found wandering the streets of Montreal, and the vet thinks he was about 10 months old at the time. That was over a year ago.

When we first got Max, we could barely walk him. He barked at every other dog and pulled on the leash. We had him evaluated by a trainer, who said Max had probably been hit by his previous owner. He was just a scared, anxious dog who growled whenever he felt threatened.

He's come a long way in the last year and a half! He doesn't growl anymore, he loves going to the dog park (although he still doesn't really understand doggy play), and he's very obedient and loving. He will sit and stay on command, and knows how to shake a paw, turn in a circle, wave, and play dead. We think he's beautiful!
