Arrival Story:
We found Tia at an animal shelter about 50 miles from home. My son wanted a companion and I wanted a working dog. We made up our mind that this dog will be a rescue or kennel dog. After months of searching I luckily came across Tia (named fox in the kennel) went to visit her with the entire family and decided to wait until we got home to make a decision so we were not cought up in the moment. By the way the Wise Co. Texas animal shelter is one of the cleanest and most humane shelters I have ever visited and the staff was very patient and helpful. While visting Tia, she took straight to our family. We took her into the play area and she immediately went and set next to my 9 year old son and let him wrap his arms around her. I pulled out a ball and she became a totally different dog, tail going crazy smiling huge and once I tossed the ball she never quit. She was very patient, very smart and loved my family right off the bat. It was real hard to leave to make sure we were making the right decision. The next day, we picked her up brought her home and she has been at our side every since as if we raised her from a puppy. I really wanted a Nova Scotia and was terrified that I was getting a mix breed but once I saw her personality and eagerness to please, I knew we could work together. We have been working a few days on obedience and some real basic gun dog skills and Tia has learned more in two days than my old chocolate lab (no longer with us) did in 6 months. We will take her out to the ranch in next week after we get all of her shots caughtup and see how much she likes swimming. We are really lucky to have found such a wonderful new canine friend.
