Arrival Story:
We were outside having a bonfire late one night and he just showed up-wearing a collar and leash-no kidding.It had been dry for days,though he was soaking wet,I think someone hosed him down to go away.Since the neighbors had their dog over earlier that night,when I felt him lick my hand I assumed it was their dog.The fire was out and it was now completely dark,so I couldn't really see him.We walked him into the garage and turned on the lights.My daughter's friend screamed "OMG it's a Basset Hound-how cool!!"
He followed us to the front door and just sat there and wimpered until my husband 'agreed' (not by choice) to let him stay 'just for the night'.Yeah,right! He had no tags,and we tried to find the owner,called all the local shelters and vets,nobody claimed him.Within 3 days we were in l0ve with him so Buddy was staying for good!
Bio:
Buddy has this really low-pitched bark.Sounds like a really old man w/a bad cough! His bark cracks me up!! My dad calls him "Tank" because he is so short and stocky-he is built like a petroleum truck!
He is a very happy-natured dog that goes w/the flow.He even dressed up as a Hula Girl for Halloween 2004-complete w/a grass skirt and flowered leis.He went trick-or-treating and ended up w/more goodies than the kids!
Since Buddy is SO short,he cannot reach the bells on the doorknob to tell us he has to go outside.He leaves his signature "pee swizzle" as he runs to the door,kinda like the mark of Zorro. Though we're not pleased by this little 'trick' he does,it's impossible to stay mad at his adorable droopy face!
