Arrival Story:
Scooby came to us through a random decision. My mother was visiting her friend and subsequently ended up round that person's neighbour. This neighbour had three dogs who were all malnourished and badly treated. There was Scooby, his mother and his older brother who, what seems unbelievable but which is very much true, was Scooby's father. My mother then made the decision of taking Scooby as her friend had frequently asked if she would take him. So she walked him to our house with a washing line as a lead. Scooby obviously had never been walked or near a road as he was terrified of cars and we were saddened to find out that Scooby was also afraid of his new food and water bowls. My mother had to spend a week hand feeding him and training him to eat from his bowl which is now no problem :D. Scooby was very emaciated and it had been obvious he had been bullied by the other two dog's as his nose was covered in fresh scratches which are viewable on one picture which was took the day we got him. But now he is a picture of health and has just recently had his second birthday! WE LOVE YOU SCOOBY DOO! :D

A year after getting Scooby we started noticing a putrid, rank smell around the house. We couldn't find the reason behind the smell for about two weeks. As it turned out, it was Scoobers. Scooby had been chewing his back end so hard, the skin had broken, turned green and began to rot. We got him to the vets who told us he probably had an allergy of somesort.. they didn't know what. He was put on a two week course of antibiotics and antihistamines to relieve the itching. Once the course finished, Scooby was straight back into chewing his back end and he started chewing his paws. After going back to the vets we were told to bath the wound twice daily with an ointment and he was given another course of treatment. This, again after two weeks, failed to relieve Scoobys condition. Luckily, we managed to contact a skin/allergy specialist for dogs. Scooby was put on a course of steroids and now takes a monthly pest injection and is a picture of health!! We probably wont find out what the cause of Scooby's illness was but it is most likely he is allergic to dustmites. But he's happy and healthy and that's all we care about :D
