just a few thoughts from cloey

learning to say goodbye

about a week ago my human grandma (on my daddy's side) passed away. she had been sick of a long time with something mommy calls cancer. mommy said the doctors couldn't do anything else so they let her come stay with us. some stranger came and put a bed and a noisy box thing that mommy said is something to help her breathe. then later that day they brought her in a big van thing with lights on top. it had doors on the back and they opened them up and brought her out on a board thing. after she had been there awhile mommy put me on the bed and let me see her. she smelled "different" then she had before. i could tell things were not right so i licked her hand and pushed the blanket over it with my nose. the next few days were rough on us all because our aunt abby (her dog) and my uncle kitt katt (her cat) came to live with us. there were so many people who came and went that i wished they would all leave. on her last night her breathing had changed and 2 ladies, mommy called them hospice nurses, came and stayed for a few hours. a long time went by and everybody started crying. i think i knew then that she had left and gone on to a better place. i miss my grandma a lot. she was always so sweet to me and would take care of me and buttons when mommy and daddy went away over night. i think sometimes that our human family forgets that when someone dies it affects us dogs too.
