Arrival Story:
I received a call about a rescued pug at an area vet's office /rescue center in which I worked a while ago. Having no intention of adding another dog since the loss of Vera, my 14 yrs old Cairn terrier I thought I’ll just visit the dog give her some lovin’ and go. I have, Louise, a predominately blind 6 yr old pug, as well as, Aunt Bea, a 5 yrs. old Boston terrier, at home. She was adorable, of course, and in rather good condition. I learned she was surrender/removed from a man who was very ill. It seems Amy as she was called however she didn’t realize it was her name, lived with 6 other dogs (Chihuahuas , Pugs and Bosons), and had a singleton litter of her own. Within less then 10 days she was removed from her house, taken to a foster home for a short time then moved to the vets office/shelter for spaying and placed up for adoption. WOW! She seemed pretty okay with all that at the age of 2-1/2. I meet her got her information and went home. Three hours later I was back at the vet/shelter with my two daughters who came home from school and after hearing her story felt she needed to live with us. At dinner that night she was the topic of conversation. My husband’s concern, as was mine, how would Louise would take to her with her diminished sight? The next morning I called the vet and scheduled a meeting between Louise, Aunt Bea and Amy. We introduced Louise first, after a few sniffs no one seemed to care. Next was Aunt Bea, again sniff, sniff great. The final hurdle was my husband, Louise is his baby. The following morning he went with me to meet her. From the time I first meet her to the time she entered her new home was less than 48 hours. Since she had no idea her name was Amy, my daughters decided to name her Stella. She was meant to be here so I registered her with AKC with the name Stella B. Stayin'.
