Favorite Food: Well, I can't have anything but kibble now, cuz of my Pancreatitis, but I do love kibble!
Favorite Walk: Carmel Beach, 20th Ave Beach, Around to the harbor & parks
Best Tricks: Stretching on command, Fetching BALL, Speak (takes me a million snorts and sneezes first but I can do it), staying on the sidewalk and not running into the street even though BALL rolled into the street and I reeeeaaaally want it!
Arrival Story: I was a veeeeeeeery sick puppy.
Once upon a time, when I was 6 weeks old, a couple came to see all of my brothers and sisters and me. They held all of the girls and some of the boys, and kept coming back to me and the other light yellow lab girl. Then they left. When I was 7 weeks old, they came back to the house I lived in (well, I was actually in a garage in a pen, but still...). When they were walking up, the breeder came over to the pen with food, so everyone ran to THAT side of the cage. I didn't, though. I remembered these two and they were more interesting (which is a BIG deal cuz I LOOOOVE food). I could tell right away they loved me, too. The breeder's kids wanted to keep me and called me Snow White but these people kept talking about choosing me. And I kept chewing on them. There was some bad news, though: all of us puppies had contracted Coccidiosis AND Giardia. Apparently our dog mommy drank some water by a cow or horse or something and passed diseases to us. Big bummer. We were all very very sick and had to go to vets and we were very dehydrated and could have died. So even though the couple had definitely picked me (they had even renamed me already! The girl said she dreamt it), they couldn't bring me home yet. Finally a doctor said I was all better and the people took me home! But that doc was wrong. The wonderful docs at Creekside Veterinary Hospital worked hard with my new mommy and daddy to get me healthier. They even called U.C. Davis. I don't know who he is, but apparently he has some of the best vet opinions in the state. After new ceramic bowls, tons of low sodium broth, pedialite, lots of rounds of different medicines, a yucky diet of cottage cheese and chicken and lots of really weird poop I finally felt all better and could go outside more. I could even poop on the ground without infecting it for other dogs. I sure hope my siblings made it, but the vet said some probably didn't.
No more parasites in me! I had a sensitive tummy for a really long time, and my mommy was a little paranoid about keeping me full of water, but now I eat whatever I can get! Except lemons. those smell gross.
My people just bought a house last year with a big yard, full of random stuff growing, little animals burrowing, and enough weeds to keep me grazing all day! I like to lounge out on the dirt and get all warm from the sun. Doggie doors rule!
Wow, it's been a long time since I've darkened the Dogster door! But I had to rush over & tell the world: I have a new babay brother! He's micro - 2 lbs 3 oz at last check, and fiesty as can be, but it's okay, we play all the time. I try to get him to chew on my cheek but sometimes he grabs an ear or my paw. Mommy has videos she'll link to soon, and lots of pics to upload, too.
His name is Joey Ramone, and he's a black longhair Chihuahua with a white chest. He kindof looks like a tasmanian devil when he's playing and sounds like one, too! Grandma calls him J-Taz. Grandma & Grandpa fell in love with their new Granddog and could really enjoy having a little dog to motorhome with, so it's up in the air as to whether he'll be with us past christmas. Lots of things to figure out like fencing & stuff. I'm a good girl & never leave the yard unless I'm with Mom or Dad, but he'll probably get more adventurous since he fits thru all the fencing.
Every morning we play and snuggle with Mommy in bed. It's really fun.
So I'm officially not allowed to have greenies anymore due to my uncontrollable urge to "gulp". Yes, I'm a "gulper" and when my people found too many 1/3 Greenie bones in my poop, it was all over but the barkin'. Now i get daily Dog Biscuits after my vitamins (which i gulp, too). The "cookies" aren't as good, but hey, they're food...and I LOVE food!
