Arrival Story:
We adopted Cabot in July 09 from our local adoption center, where he had shown up one morning (on my birthday - a sign?) dragging a chain. Where he came from is a mystery - we are a county away from foxhunting country. We were taken with how calm he was. Well, we took it to be calm then - turns out he was most likely being calmly fearful! Despite his fear, he did make a connection with us and our dogs, and he went home - he had probably never been inside a home before! We are so glad he did - he is a much loved doggie.

Bio:
Cabot is a special needs dog, due to his lack of socialization and generalized fear/anxiety. Despite this, he is able to make connections and the reward is being able to get to know him and bond with him. He is a great big happy excited playful goofball when he gets past his fear. The compassionate professionals who have seen him believe he was probably abused and neglected - and perhaps witnessed some abuse - in the year and a half before he showed up at the adoption center. He stayed at the center for over two years before we met him. He has overcome a lot and is now safe for the rest of his life - hooray! Note: He's very afraid of the camera, so some work is needed in the the photo department!
