Arrival Story:
I'd been looking for a dog for well over a year, the problem was finding the right dog for me and it had to be a dog who would not eat my families little dog or the cats. It also had to be close by as I couldn't drive and would have to either walk or ask someone to drive me. So this made it difficult. At last one cropped up, nearby (the same suburb even) GSP x GWP x Mastiff mix, they had been raised with a small dog and cats and both parents were also fine with small animals despite being keen hunting dogs. I got sick the day after the advert and by the time I got there but one pup remained, but what a pup! When I arrived I hadn't realized how keen on hunting Violet's family where, skulls even adorned the outside of the house, skulls and stuffed animals were all over the inside too. After meeting Violet's mother the pup herself was placed into my arms and my heart melted, I spent some time with her and was told all about her parents and everything I'd need to know before taking Violet home (food she was eating, how much and how often to feed her, when she was last wormed etc). Violet came home with me that day at 11 weeks of age, a lovely, lively and curious little girl.

Long time no post, my two legged friend has started a blog and guess what? IT'S ALL ABOUT ME! What else could be more important? Join us as we blog about our wanderings and the joys and... well the not joyous moments of dogs and dog lovers in suburban Australia, in a particular part of suburban Australia where most everywhere larger then the average backyard is a national park- no dogs allowed no how.

There will be plenty of photos of me! Playing, swimming, ect... showing off the landscape of a new found space that allows dogs.

You can join us on our adventures here at Vagabond and Hound,
A free spirited dog and a free spirited human what could possibly go wrong?
(Me pretending to be behaving myself really well off lead and them diving into a muddy creek and becoming selectively deaf that's what!)

Ponds are for dogs not for fish

There are too many ponds, one in the front yard that's small, one in the backyard that's also rather small, ones a converted bathtub with a shallow extension at the front... this one is full of fish and covered with netting to keep the cats and birds out.... and me!

But... there's a huge pond, not deep enough to swim but large and much deeper then the tub, my masters scary father cleaned up the plants around it so its now much more accessible.... What does that mean?

It's now MY POOL! I don't care if no one wants me in it because I come out with brown stained fur and I smell bad, summer is getting hot they can't expect me to stay out of it. If they wanted a dog that would stay out of their fishponds they wouldn't have gotten a dog that was mostly German Pointer.

Yes I stink of pond water, but hey at least I'm keeping cool.

I don't like bees!

Ouch! A bee stung me near my nose! Now I have a big sore bump on my face, mum says I look a like a Borzoi with a short nose... wait if she likes Borzoi is that a compliment? ...Anyway I had some nasty tasting paste applied to the bump its all gooey so I rubbed it on the floor.

I don't like bees anymore. I'm going back to sleep, wake me when it's dinnertime.
