Quick Bio:
-purebred

Birthday:
July 16th 2000

Likes:
FOOD!!! He also goes bonkers over my brother when he visits. Matter of fact, Skyler loves EVERYONE he meets!

Pet-Peeves:
Anyone sneezing or coughing, UPS truck sound, telephone ringing, not getting all the food he wants when he wants it, baths (though he behaves perfecty for them), cutting nails

Favorite Toy:
Red Kong ball like his pal Questy, Woobies (soft toys), the tab on the back of my tennis shoes and I almost forgot, back scratches.

Favorite Food:
Iams and ANYTHING else but chocolate...Skyler especially loves Sweet Gerhkin Pickles. He'll also eat carrots, celery, potatoes, cabbage, salmon, catfish, green beans, etc...

Favorite Walk:
Woods behind our house where he can run and bark to his hearts content, of course ONLY with my supervision.

Best Tricks:
The "Paw Dance" for food. Skyler spontaneously stands on his hind legs and waves his front paws. We didn't really teach him this, but did encourage the behavior.

Arrival Story:
A Sheltie friend who owned a puppy from the same breeder told me about an upcoming litter. So I immediately e-mailed the breeder and told her my entire life story. That lead to me getting on her waiting list for a puppy. Before I coud have Skyler we had to put up a 5 ft. fence, which we did. I finally became Skyler's Guardian after waiting two long months for his delivery. I knew he was going to be my puppy right after his birth. Skyler was the only bi-blue puppy in his litter at Imperial Shelties. All the other puppies were tri-colors. I was delighted beyond words! The breeder's husband, who works for a well known airline, flew down with Skyler for me from Buffola, NY in September 2000. I can hardly believe that Skyler will be four years old on the 16th of July. He is a wonderful addition to our family and MY very first Sheltie. Questy is my second Sheltie from the same breeder.

Bio:
Skyler has been trained in obedience and agility as well as his pal Questy. He loved it when we were competing. I stopped working him after a tragedy occurred in our family. Hopefully, some day I'll get back to competing with Skyler to finish his Companion Dog Degree and his Novice Agility title. He is a grand dog to play train who learns easily anything I try to teach him.

I was SOOOO excited when mom brought Jesse home. I had a NEW playmate. I couldn't wait to do the "Paw Dance" when he walked in the house. Mom usually recommends doing introductions on neutral territory, but Jesse and her didn't get back home until late on October 7, 2006. It was cold and rainy outside. So mom had to just let Jesse in the house and see how everyone responded. I was elated. I jumped around and poked Jesse...yep he was real alright. I had a new playmate, oh I said that already. Hehe

Don't tell anyone, but Quest isn't so sure that having a new playmate is a good thing. He has this thing about sharing. Now doesn't he remember when mom brought him home from NY?? Obviously, not. Newt, Kelley and I do. He instantly thought all the toys were his. He also thought mom was his! Now us other dogs are good at sharing the toys and mom. She loves us all. I hope that Quest will come around and decide that Jesse is a "good thing". :)

Woof at ya later!

A Sheltie Poem

Ashen Black or Reddish Gold
Silver Blue in colours bold
With Snowy White on paws and chest
All Shelties wear their Sunday Best

Tripping down the city street
On tiny ballet dancer's feet,
And praised by all who chance to see
All Shelties know they're Royalty

At the park, a bouncing joy
And happy 'Woofs' just slightly coy
But never more than what should be
All Shelties love their Dignity

And when the moon zooms great and round
Our loyal companion snuggles down
And guards the sleep of those he loves
All Shelties come from God above

Advice To Dogs

1 After your humans give you a bath, don't let them towel dry you!
Instead, run to their bed, jump up and dry yourself on the sheets.
This is especially good if it's right before your humans' bedtime.

2 Act like a convicted criminal. When the humans come home,
put your ears back, tail between your legs, chin down and act
as if you have done something really bad. Then, watch as the
humans frantically search the house for the damage they think
you have caused.

3 Hide from your humans. When your humans come home,
don't greet them at the door. Instead, hide from them.
and make them think something terrible has happened to you.
(Don't reappear until one of your humans is panic-stricken
and close to tears).

4 Wake up 20 minutes before the alarm clock is set to go
off and make the humans take you out. As soon as you get
back inside, fall asleep. (Humans can rarely fall back asleep
after going outside; this will drive them nuts!)
