Arrival Story: I got him from a high kill shelter. he was given up by his owner. He was in very serious pain and needed medical help. I asked American Boston Terrier Rescue to take him in and they said yes. I dropped him at the vet as soon as I Got him. I wanted him to get pain meds. His one eye was so ugly (ruptured) and the other had a growth. He is 11 yrs old! He has only 20% vision in the one eye. 5/11/10 he went to surgery with many prayers for him. The vet said he may not make it through surgery but we said do it because he could not stay the way he is. He has a grade 3 heart murmor. He made it through and I picked him up late that evening. I am committed to helping this boy in any way I can. Hedeserves to live. He has to learn to adjust to new people, a new place, new smells and all at 11 yrs old and recovering from surgery and near blind. I know he has a lot of hearing loss also. He will go to Texas when he is well. He will be taken care of and I hope he will have a home where he can spend the remainder of his life in peace and quiet.
Bio: Olle had blood work, his right eye removed, a growth removed from his left eye. He had a dental and 4 teeth removed and his ears that have yeast were flushed out. He was neutered, his nails cut and all his vaccinations given. He had a heart worm test and a fecal. He was negative for both. I knew he was in pain but it was a different pain. This is a pain that will go away and he will be a healthier boy now. We will do all we can for Olle.
It's so pretty here. The air smells so good. The water is so clean and tastes like no water I ever had. Everything is good here. My old friend Buddy is here and I met Annie, Sam, Hank, Doogie, Mazie and lots of dogs here. Even little Raggedy Andy is here. Boy he was real sick before he came her. REAL sick. He's fine now and very happy.I could go on and on but I will write more later.
Today was better for mom and dad. I talked to the master here and asked him to send a Boston to fix their sad and broken hearts. He did. They got the call early this morning and they picked up a 6mo old Boston male. He is a sweet little boy and he already made mom and dad smile. He will keep them busy and they will have something to smile about now.
Mom has not written in my diary for me in a LONG time. When Buddy left for the bridge she was so very sad. I know how hard it was for her. I'm not so good at comforting but Dad was sad too and they helped each other. Bella helped them and Bentley and Heidi too. I missed Buddy.
For about a week I have not been feeling so good. Mom and dad took me to see Dy Katy 2 times in 5 days. I got lots of medacine and I spent the day at the clinic both days I went. I like it there. Dr Katy watched me and if I had felt better I would have had more fun. I love Dr Katy. I couldn't help dancing and wiggeling when I heard her voice and I knew she was trying to help me stay here with my parents.
I felt so bad last night and mom layed on the sofa with her pillow so she could be close to me. She rubbed my back and head and I tried to lay down. I couldn't. It was too hard to breath when I layed down and then walking seemed to help so she layed on the sofa and I walked slowly around the house. I went over and she rubbed me and told me she loves me. Then things got fuzzy and I couldn't stand up anymore. I couldn't get a breath and I saw the pretty bridge right in front of me. Buddy was there and little Andy too. Bradley and Missy and Max all said hello and invited me to cross the bridge to where they are. Mom called dad and he came and bent over me with mom and rubbed me and talked to me. Dad said he loves me and that I am a good dog. He said it was OK for me to go. He said "go play with your friends. I'm going to miss you old man. It's OK foir you to go." Mom said she loves me and she will miss me too but I should go to the bridge and when I get there I will have both my eyes and I won't have shakey legs anymore. She said I am always hoing to be in their hearts and they will NEVER forget me." SO........I let go of this life and went on to the bridge. I saw mom and dad out burying my old body in the yard next to Missy. I wish they wouldn't cry so much. Their hearts are broken in tiny pieces and I know they will be sad for a long time. I'll help my friends watch over them from here. When I can I will let them know I am still with them. Now I will run and play with my friends. I have both eyes now and nothing hurts on my body anymore. I feel like a pup again.
I want my wings now. If one of my friends Mom's will make some for me I would appreciate that. I think Mom would really like that.
It's a rainy day. Dad left early this AM and came back with a NEW dog! Another new dog.... seems like every time they get one adopted out here they take in another one. Kind of made me aggrivated BUT then I was thinking about it more. As old as I am I have gained some wisdom about life and things. I am a lucky dog. I live with humans who are just determined to save dogs lives. It's true that they get another as soon as one has found a happy home. That is pretty nice. Of course Buddy, Bella, Bently and Heidi and not going to be adopted cause this is their furever home. Now you know Rose has been here for a long time and she says she is NOT leaving. lol Rose is a funny girl. She's been for adoption for 3 years! She snaps at people and just does not act nice when mom takes her to Petsmart for adoption day, once in a while. She says she is not nice to people cause she loves it here and she is just not leaving. lol I was thinking maybe I should do that too. Hummmmm That's a thought for a rainy day. I'll think about taking that tip from Rose. See, I like it here too.
