Likes:
Ozzy LOVES to sniff out his toys. It's hard for him to keep track of the object that is being thrown because of his one eye, but he watches what he can, and then listens for where the ball lands, and runs off in that direction and sniffs it out!

Pet-Peeves:
So far, I haven't noticed any pet peeves. He will let you pet him just fine, but he doesn't really enjoy it. But we're working on that. The rescue suspected he was abused, so I think that may be why. He's already made some progess with that though!

Favorite Toy:
Definitely his tennis ball! He love to have it thrown, and will also just sit and chew on it for hours.

Favorite Food:
He loves food! But right now he really needs his special food.

Favorite Walk:
We go on a 1 1/2 mile walk every day and he really enjoys it! There's new things out there every day!

Best Tricks:
We're still working on the basic commands, but he is catching on VERY quickly!! I'm sure I'll be able to list some great tricks on here in no time!

Arrival Story:
I have grown up with dogs my whole life. In December 2009, my husband, son, and I finally ventured out into the world by ourselves. No dog in tow. I'm a stay-at-home Mom, so I found myself REALLY missing having a dog around, especially after having 3+ dogs in my parents' house my whole life. Come April 2010, and I just really really really want a dog. I talk to my husband and we both agree, a dog would be a great addition to the family. We have a condo, and the association will only allow dogs 25 pounds and under. I've had BIG dogs my whole life, and haven't met too many smaller dogs that I've really enjoyed. Except a Boston Terrier named Lucy. She was my cousin's fiance's family dog. And I fell in love with her, and decided that someday, I wanted a Boston Terrier. So, I start searching through rescues, shelters, PetFinder, newspaper ads, etc. looking for a Boston Terrier. As cute as puppies are, we wanted a dog that was between 1 and 4 years of age that was already housebroken and good with kids, and I preferred a male. So that's what we set out to look for. Of course, I found quite a few dogs that I really thought I would enjoy, but I wanted to wait for JUST the right one. Near the end of April, I came across Ozzy (who was previously named Luke) at the Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue. He was 3 1/2 hours away in Ohio. A little further than I had hoped to travel, but I didn't care! As soon as I seen his description, it felt like fate had intervened and I had found THE dog. I no longer wanted a dog, I just wanted Ozzy! And if I couldn't get him, well, I just wasn't sure if I would ever be able to get excited over finding a dog! The description the rescue provided was exactly what we wanted, and SO much more! And of course, him only having one eye really made me just want to cuddle him and tell him that somebody in Michigan loves him! So I applied, knowing the process could take a month. A few days passed, and I was so excited and so nervous, checking my e-mail obsessively. It had only been 3 days, and I knew very well that it could take up to 10 days just for the rescue to look over my application. But on the 4th day, I got the message I had been waiting for! Erica, from the rescue, contacted me and thought that we had sounded like a great family! But part of their process is a home check, she's in Ohio, we're in Michigan, she has an 11 month old son, I have a 15 month old son. She decided to complete a virtual house check instead. I sent her pictures of our house, our balcony, our walking route, anything and everything I could possibly think of. I was prepared to wait again. Nope! The next day, I received an e-mail asking if I would be interested in a Mother's Day adoption! I was so surprised! Mother's Day was only a few days away! After putting a bunch if last minute things together, and my husband having to work at 4pm (on Mother's Day), as much as I wanted this little guy as soon as possible, I just wasn't sure I'd be able to make it. But when I want something REALLY bad, I do everything I can take make it work. I talked to his foster to see if coming at 6am was too early for her. It was the only way I knew I could make it work! If I left at 3am, I'd get there around 6am, and I knew I could be back in time for my husband to go to work. She said 6 was more than good for her! My husband stayed home with my son, and my friend (bless her soul!) made the trip with me at 3am. On Mother's Day of 2010, I brought my new son home! And he has been amazing!

Bio:
The rescue had found Ozzy as a stray, so they didn't have too much background information on him. They don't know his exact age, but the veterinarian told the rescue that he was approximately 2 years old. So I decided to make May 9th (the day I got him) his birthday. When the rescue found him, he had an ulcer in his right eye, was extremely thin, and had parasites. They took him in, tried to treat his eye, but they couldn't. The vet had said that even if the ulcer went away, he would still be 100% blind in his right eye, so they had to remove it. His parasites were treated and he gained weight and was a healthy 24 pounds when we adopted him. He also had to have 2 teeth removed. He is missing some hair on his tail and has some dry skin, but we are working on his dry skin (and who knows, maybe the hair on his tail will grow back!) with Omega 3 Fish Oil supplements and buying a special food: Natural Balance LID Fish & Sweet Potato. It is believed he has a food allergy and needs a no grain food, hence the special food.
