Sweet & Petite…that’s ME! Hey everyone, I’m Gemma and I’ve only been with BRBR about 2 weeks. My foster family doesn’t know my background but I have some scars to show the tough times I’ve had in my life. Even though I was very scared when the BRBR people came to rescue me, I am so thankful that they helped me because if it weren’t for them….well, I wouldn’t want to think about that! When my foster Mom & Dad picked me up from the vet, I was too scared to move so my foster Dad had to carry me to the car. They took me to their house. I couldn’t remember being in a house before, but I love it!! I loved it so much that at first, I didn’t want to go back outside. My foster Mom & Dad had to carry me the first few times so that I could use the bathroom outside. They also have a male boxer and he taught me that it was okay to go outside because we get to come back in as soon as we go to the bathroom! And, yes, I am housebroken…it just took me a day or so to get adjusted to my surroundings. Now, I look forward to going out! I don’t have a fenced in yard right now so I have this leash attached to me when we go outside but I really don’t have a problem with that at all. Actually, my foster Mom bought me a very cool collar that makes me look extra pretty. My foster family is working on my manners. I can’t remember if I had used my manners before, if I did, I forgot them but my foster Mom said I am a very smart girl. I learned “sit” and “down” in just a day or so. I love my crate when I go to bed at night. I’m just not sure that I love going in there during the day. I still think it’s only for sleeping but my foster Mom puts me in there off and on throughout the day so I guess it’s not just a place to sleep. My problem is that I’m a little nervous and anxious when I’m left alone but I’m starting to understand that it’s really not that bad being in the crate, especially when my foster brother is in the crate next to me AND we each get a Kong with peanut butter or a bone! Speaking of my foster brother, he’s pretty cool. He likes to play all the time and it’s just not my thing. Sometimes in the morning I feel up for it but most of the time I just let him run around and bark at me and lick my face and I try my best to get away from him without making him feel bad. I just don’t like it when he tries to bother me when I’m lying down on my blanket or relaxing in my crate. You know a girl needs her beauty rest!! If I can snuggle by my foster Mom on the couch, that is my favorite spot! My foster family keeps telling me what a sweet girl I am. They also tell me that I have the cutest lip because it hangs down, I guess. I don’t know, I haven’t really checked out a mirror but I’m okay with it as long as it gets me lots of kisses from them! Oh, last night I went for my first car ride. Well, it was the first one that I can remember. It was so great!! I definitely can’t wait to do that again. So, that’s about it for now. Overall, I’m a loveable, good-hearted girl, looking for a family that will give me love for the rest of my life. I hope that being as sweet and cute as I am, it is going to get me a forever home.
