Bio:
Hi there, I am currently surfing the web, trying to get information that can help me with my pitbull. if you have time, i would appreciate any help you can offer... About a year and a half ago i got a female pitbull from the humane society here in Phoenix where I live. For this whole time, she's been perfect, never aggressive towards humans or dogs. About a month ago, she started being aggressive towards people, for instance, on walks when somebody walks by, she will lunge at them and bark, looking like she wants to bite them. When people come over (strangers) she barks and howls at them, and her back hair stands on end. This is totally foreign to the way she's acted for a year... she used to be ultra friendly to strangers, other dogs, etc. Now she's acting totally aggressive towards strangers... The whole issue is that i am moving in 2 weeks to an apartment, with a new roommate, who often has friends over. I am afraid that she will attack someone when i am not there. As i am in school and have work, there will be alot of time that i cannot be there with her. I am trying to find a home for her, but i dont know if anyone will spend the necessary time to train this aggressiveness out of her, because i surely dont have the time to do it, and i cant afford a lawsuit if she hurts someone. This is so sad, because this dog is SO SWEET. It really is a dichotomy that she can be so nice towards me, and yet display such aggressiveness towards strangers. She is a shelter dog, so i have no idea how her parents temperment was... for all i know they could have been human aggressive too. What should i do?
