Barney loves to be talked to and petted.
Barney circles the room if he can't find a spot on the sofa. He usually snookers up there one way or another.
Any stuffed animal. He carries them around and eventually rips them to shreds.
Barney eats Kirkland brand dog food.
Barney is happy to walk anywhere.
Barney loves to steal toys and tennis balls from Irwin.
Barney originally belonged to a woman named Mercedes who lived in an assisted living community. She hired petsitters to help make sure Barney got plenty of walks when he needed them. Barney was her constant companion, escorting her to activities at the residence. He was a celebrity around there! People would stop to say hello to Barney and give him a pat on the head.
Barney's mom once asked me, because she knew how much I loved Barney, if I would take him if she ever had to give him up. I told her there was no way I could say no to Barney! Unfortunately, Barney's mom fell victim to cancer at 86, but she made sure Barney would be cared for after she was gone. I agreed to take him, but he stayed by her side until the very end. It was very sad, but I am honored to have been chosen as Barney's new owner. He is wonderful!
We said goodbye to Barney in July. He had cancer, and was no longer enjoying life. We were with him until the end, and with the help of our vet we let him go. He is no longer suffering. We love him, and are grateful for the blessing of knowing him.
Barney lived the first 10 years of his life without cats. When he moved in with me, he also moved in with 6 cats. He adapted beautifully!
