 Quick Bio:
Likes: Snuggling with Mimi in our bed and making my mom run circles chasing me :)

Pet-Peeves: Having to go outside in the rain, wet grass, my doggie panties.

Favorite Toy: All my stuffed animals and my sister, Mimi. She's so little, it's like having a toy that plays with me!

Favorite Food: Whatcha got? But I really love fresh baby carrots and granny smith apples. I also love canned, unsalted green beans and carrots which are added to my food every day.

Favorite Walk: In the park behind my house.

Best Tricks: I'm learning to "sit". My mom screamed in excitement the other day when I did it (without her having to push my bottom down) for the first time. She was so proud!

Arrival Story: Mom's side of the story: This is the best rescue/adoption story I can imagine. Nikki and Mimi were rescued together by Fuzzy Friends Rescue in Waco, TX on Sept. 1, 2004 (Sept. 1st is what I use for their birthdays now). They were in terrible shape - they were both terribly sick with heartworms, skin problems, and they had both been bred so much that when they were spayed, their little uteruses were just mush. BUT these little girls were so brave and the wonderful people at Fuzzy Friends made them all better. It took them 4 months to get Mimi and Nikki healthy enough to be adopted and when they were ready, they contacted DFW Pug Rescue. The babies were found two separate homes, but I went to Waco on 01/08/05 to pick both up and transport Nikki to her new family and Mimi came to live with me. I fell in love with BOTH of them immediately and did not want to give Nikki up but I knew she had a new home waiting for her. But something in my heart told me to tell the other family that if anything didn't work out, to please contact me. Long story short, and 3 weeks later (with total support from both rescues), Nikki came to live with her sister, Mimi, her new brother, Pugsley, and her new mom on 01/29/05, so we are all back to together again to live happily every after. I am now an active volunteer for DFW Pug Rescue.

Bio: I am partially blind due to untreated eye infections prior to my rescue, but you'd never know it because I can outrun my mom anytime!! I have to eat special, prescription food because I have a tendancy to get bladder infections and stones. I am also so beautiful (so my mom keeps telling me) that you'd just never believe I was anything but perfect.

Well, unfortunately things didn't stay ok like we hoped they would. Early this morning my sister-pug Mimi was feeling very bad and our mommie had to take her to the vet. She was shaking and panting funny and had droopy eyes. Mommie knew something was wrong and called the vet as soon as they opened. At first they acted like they wouldn't be able to see her until tomorrow because they were so busy, but Mommie was crying and told them how important it was that she be seen today so they let her bring her in. She wanted to take me too just for a follow-up but they only had room for Mimi and since I have been doing ok, I stayed home. Although Mommie worried about me all day. (She was SO relieved to come home and see me being my normal frisky, hungry self! And the dr. says that since I am still doing good and it has been a few days since our "mishap", I should be in the clear now.)
Anyway, the vet just called and Mimi has to stay in the hospital. They did blood work on her and her WBC is over twice the normal level (37,000 and should be around 17,000). Some other levels are not quite normal either. They gave her IV fluids and have her on antibiotics trying to get the WBC down. They also took x-rays and gave her some pain medication because she has a very tender belly. They also sent off some of her blood to be tested for pancreatitus (sp?), which the dr. said could become very serious if not treated promptly. He did say that she has improved since this morning but it will depend on how her tests come back as to whether or not she will be coming home tomorrow.
We miss her so much and we are so worried. Mommie has literally been sick with worry for days now. So much has happened. We were really hoping things would be settled down by tonight but not yet. But we know that Mimi is in good hands.
Please keep her in your prayers that she will be healthy and home soon.
Now I need to go give our Mommie some extra love and affection...she is feeling very boo-hoo-y.

Oh dear. We have just put my wonderful mommie through a heck of a day and night. She currently has two foster puggies and the little girl LuLing had a bad reaction to her vaccinations yesterday. Scared Mommie almost to death. She was in the middle of fixing us puggies our dinner when it happened and she had to rush the puggie back to the vet. That was so scary because the little puggie was unresponsive and limp as a noodle. Mommie thought she was losing her but was able to get her to come around and rushed her back to the vet where they gave her an injection and IV of cortizone and antihystimine (sp?) and also some oxygen. They said she was "shocky" and had an allergic reaction to the vaccines and will have to be pre-treated from now on before getting her vaccinations. Whew!!! That was awfully scary.
Now, we're not done yet. While she was gone, we noticed she had left the pantry door open and Mimi and I got into my container of prescription food and ate almost all of it! I blew up like a balloon! At first Mommie didn't think it was too serious but I kept getting bigger so she called the ER and they said to bring me in so they could make me throw up because the food was expanding and could cause serious problems. So we go up there and they wanted to give me something called hydrogen peroxide but I was SO FULL there was no room for it. So they put these special drops in my eyes to make me sicky to my stomach. They had to do it twice to make me throw up but I only did a little bit...not enough. So then it got more serious. They had to admit me to the hospital overnight, do an x-ray, put me on an IV and monitor me. You see, sometimes if a doggie eats too much like I did, their tummy and intestines can bind and twist up. Not good! I showed no signs of this, but they still considered me to be in a "critical" situation. I also had mild hypothermia for some reason so they gave me "extra heat support".
I did fine throughout the night (thank pugness!!) so they released me this morning, but my mommie had to stay home to monitor me and walk me every 2-4 hours. I have started to "go" but I'm still pretty big and cannot have any food at all until tomorrow and then just a little. Mimi also got into the food and blew up too but not quite as bad so did not go to the hospital but has been watched and taken on the frequent walks too. Things seem to be "moving along" ok but this apparently is a slow process. We are still too round. Hopefully by tomorrow things will be back to normal. I'm ready to eat again!!
We're sorry Mommie for scaring you. And we're sorry you had such a scary day and night with us and the little foster girl pug LuLing too. We know you love us all so much.
