Pet-Peeves: The crate...and getting too many kisses from Flecken (she'll tolerate a few, but then lets him know she's had enough!)
Favorite Toy: So far, she seems to prefer plush squeekies
Arrival Story: Choxie was picked up by Animal Control as a stray. She had obviously recently had puppies, but they could not be found. When she was picked up, she was very scared, very skinny and suffering from mange. No one wanted her...and she was about to be put down when Faith, Hope and Love Rescue pulled her out of the shelter to save her life. One of my good friends is a volunteer with the rescue group and contacted me to see if I would be willing to foster her. Two days later...she got snipped and chipped, and moved into the Gang house.
Bio: As of this writing, Choxie has been with us for about a month. Her mange is clearing up nicely, although it will probably be a while before her fur totally grows back in. She has gotten very playful, and loves to chase Gang members around the back yard. She is a very sweet girl, and gets along with everyone in the Gang. The Gang is STILL trying to teach her how the doggie door works...but so far, she won't use it.
UPDATE: Well...it's been a year since Choxie left the shelter...and she is still looking for a forever home. She has come a long way! She is no longer mangey, is fully furry, and pleasantly plump. She is a happy girl who has learned to get along with other dogs. She's still working on making a good "first impression" with new people...although she quickly warms up. She uses the doggie door like a champ...consistently uses potty pads during the day while I'm at work...rarely barks...entertains herself quite well..and is an excellent snuggler. She is clever, energetic and athletic...which sometimes gets her into trouble. She would like a home with at least one doggie playmate, or a stay-at-home parent.
