Arrival Story:
Candy was my second Chocolate Lab, much more relaxed than my first but not as smart. I looked for a good breeder with a diverse, healthy line of dogs. She had some english ancestors as well as some american ones. We were able to select a pup from the litter and I picked a good one. We brought her home at 9 weeks old and enjoyed her sweet company for almost 10 years....

Bio:
Candy was 65 pounds of sweetness. She collected all the small, submissive dogs and the puppies at the dog park. They seemed to know she was a good dog to hang out with. Always gentle, playful and patient. At 2 her mentor Woofie died of cancer and she was our only dog for 4 years. I felt she needed a companion so we started to look at rescues. She turned up her nose at dozens of dogs and puppies. We looked for months! Finally I found a skinny, cute, 2 year old male tri-color at the Humane Society. She liked him right away! We added this guy to the family and Candy did a great job bringing him out of his shell. She taught him to play and other important doggie things. We did not realize until after she died that she was also his eyes. His sight was failing, and he felt safe following her around the yard. Her illness was short, only 9 days and she was gone. She must have been in pain, but still she wagged her tail. She was a truely wonderful dog. She left a hole in our lives. Her poor buddy, Snickers was heartbroken. He slept all the time and was very sad. I was glad I was with her when she died. I loved her so.
