Arrival Story:
I was looking for a "German" German Shepherd and after surfing the web I found a great breeder in Montana. After much discussion on the phone I reserved a male from an upcoming litter. I waited about 4 months and along came Cody! The breeder picked out the perfect dog for me. Cody has excelled in obedience and is now a certified pet therapy dog through the Delta Society and he is also a certified Canine Good Citizen! You go Cody!

Cody has been training diligently for agility. He is almost ready to compete. He just needs to master the weave poles and we will be on our way to stardom!

We picked up our new pup in October of 2003. He was flown from Montana to Fort Worth, Texas. When the cargo crew brought the kennel out I could hear him barking. When we opened the door he came right out, yapping, and I put him on the grass and he peed. What a good puppy! My daughter, Taylor, who at the time was 10 years old fell in love. I fell in love weeks before when looking at the pictures. Anyway, we had not settled on a name yet. We were waffling between Cody and Dakota.

While waiting for Cody to arrive at the airport I was looking at a book that Taylor was reading and one of the character's name was "Cody." My mind was made up...obviously this was a sign. So we named him Cody. He was a good puppy on the 2 hour trip to Wichita Falls. We got home about midnight. The bad thing was we had to get up early Saturday because my daughter had a soccer game. Cody whined some throughout the night. I took him outside about every one and a half hours as he was only 7.5 weeks old. He slept in a crate beside my bed so he could be close to me. When we got up in the morning we played for a little while and then I had to leave him to take Taylor to the soccer game. I could not take him with me as there are no dogs allowed at the soccer fields. As soon as we got home I took Cody to the vet for an exam and his next set of shots. He did great!!!

Saturday night he only whined a few times and I took him out 3 or 4 times during the night. He is the greatest dog I have ever owned. More stories to come.
