Food and chasing squirrels
Large, obnoxious dogs who don't realize that he just does NOT want to play, or be trampled on.
He loves the whole rat pups that he gets sometimes.
Astoria park when the squirrels are out.
He spins around when I ask him if he's crazy, he bows down when I ask him who his queen is, he's absolutely amazing off leash and I can trust him anywhere. He's also got a great "take" and "touch."
My mom came home with him one day after seeing an ad in the Russian newspaper. It was a family who's dogs had bred and they were giving the puppies away for free. Charlie was one of the last puppies left. The owner of the mother told my mother that he always hid, and was the shyest puppy, even though he was the largest and strongest. She said that he never came out to greet people, and would just hide under the bureau. When my mom came in, Charlie actually went up to her, sat in her lap and gave her lots of kisses. My mom felt that he "chose" her, so she scooped him up and that was that. It probably wasn't the best way to acquire a dog and it wasn't the best time to do it (my brother and I were still too young for the responsibility) but in the end I don't think my life would have been the same without Charlie. He and I instantly bonded and we've been attached at the hip ever since. He now lives with me and we visit mom regularly.
