Brodie for adoption!

Brodie is located in Brooksville, FL, 34601. Must be willing to travel to Brooksville to meet Brodie!


Brodie is a sweet & gorgeous one year old red merle Mini Australian Shepherd with beautiful amber eyes. He's 23 lbs, neutered, UTD on shots including rabies & on flea & heartworm prevention. Brodie was surrendered by his owners for nipping at their young child but he has not displayed this behavior with our children (6 & 10 yrs. old) at all. He is very gentle & plays well with them. As a precaution though, & because of his size & delicate build, please no children under 6 years old. All children should be taught how to handle a dog & be supervised. Brodie is doing great with socializing, training to build up his confidence & learning boundaries.

Brodie enjoys the security of his crate & is trained to go into it when told "house". He takes a little time to warm up to new people but he is very loving & likes to 'drape' himself across your lap & gives wonderful 'hugs'. He's housebroken, chews only his toys but still working on leash manners. With proper introductions Brodie gets along very well & is playful with other well balanced dogs. Because of his chase drive Brodie would probably be better in a home without cats. He occasionally guards his toys & food from other dogs but we are working on this & already see improvement.

Brodie is medium/high energy & needs regular daily exercise--he loves long walks, playing ball & has the typical Aussie intelligence that craves stimulation. We're looking for an owner or family who will make Brodie a big part of their daily lives & include him in activities to keep him socialized.

Australian Shepherds live 12 to 14 years & are a highly intelligent, sensitive, active breed who need stimulation & an outlet for their energy, so please realize we will be looking for the best match for Brodie. Aussie's have a strong desire to please their people, are very easy to train & have great potential. Aussies often excel at fly ball, agility, Frisbee & as therapy dogs or service dogs. They respond best to calm assertive handling.

Update

Brodie's doing wonderfully--much better than we imagined! He's friendly with people & dogs alike ---taking cues from the other older dogs:) Whoever gets Brodie is soooo lucky!!!
