Arrival Story:
Maile loved dachshunds. Matt would drive around the block every time she saw a dachshund out the car window, so she could see it again. Then they bought a house with a yard and decided to get a dachshund of their very own. They looked in the classifieds and found only one red dachshund listed. So they went and saw him. He romped and frolicked with his sister Ruby. Then he crawled into Maile's lap, tucked his nose under her arm, and fell asleep. Maile looked down at his soft, tiny little dachshund body and noticed his bright red eyelashes. And she fell in love.

I Love Lunch

Today I did the most amazing thing--I ate lunch! I've never eaten lunch before! It's much better than breakfast and dinner, and I hope I get to have it all the time.

Lucy, Nugget, and I went to The Dining Dog Cafe in Edmonds. Mom, Lisa, and Lea came too. We got to sit at the table and the waitresses were extra nice to us. First they brought us a cocktail--beefy cordial with a pupperoni swizzle stick. Next we had an appetizer. Liverwurst on a cracker, and slices of hot dog!

After this course, mom and I left the table and went in the corner with a lady. She gave me a massage. I'm not sure I liked it, but when mom got her massage she seemed very happy.

After our massages we got our main course. A delicious meaty stew, kibbles and gravy, a popover, and broccoli. I got to sit on the bench and eat it off the table!!! Mom gave me drinks of water and sips of my cocktail. It was all so good. Except the broccoli. I left most of that. Later, when we got home, Dad said I was a good boy.

Lucy, Nugget, Lisa, and Lea all had massages, and then we had dessert. The waitress came around with a very big tray and we all got to choose our own treats. And they were big ones!

Aside from the food, there sure was a lot of good stuff to smell there. There were lots of other dogs and people. There was another dachshund. Her name was Vienna and she was very small. She barked a lot and did lots of things her mom didn't seem too happy about. And she barely ate any of her lunch! Also, she wore a dress and looked very silly.

At the end, Lucy, Nugget, and I all got extra appetizers from the nice waitress lady. And an extra dessert! The lady was so nice.

Mom took lots of pictures at lunch. They are on her photo blog: http://kitchenmaus.amazon.shutterfly.com

I hope I get to go back soon. Or maybe we'll start having lunch at my house too.

I Love Christmas!

Christmas is the best! It's even better than my birthday! I got so many presents!

I got:

Purple Pig--Squishy and fun, and I tore him right apart!

Squeaky David--I don't have any toys like this one! He squeaks a lot and is fun to throw around.

Chipmunk Ball--This one didn't last long! I took his tail right off!

Quacking Duck--He's the best! I shake him real hard and he quacks and quacks and quacks! When he stops, I shake him some more!

Blinky Ball--My old one from Bo stopped blinking. Santa brought me a new one so I could play fetch.

A Sweater--It kept me warm and Mom seemed to like it a whole lot.

Lots of treats--Including, Banana Biscotti, Peanut Cookies, and Dental Bones!

Turkey--Light Grandma made a turkey and everyone gave me some. I even got to lick the platter!

How long until next Christmas?

Graduation Day

I graduated from school today!

Mom and I have been going to school every Sunday at Dog's Day Out. This is the same place I went to when I was a puppy, and I even have the same teacher, Caren. She's great! She's very nice and always has lots of treats.

Mom and I have been doing lots of homework every night since we started the class. I've learned to play baseball, go away, watch, heel, and many more things. And I've gotten much better at going to my bed, leaving it, and rolling over. The biggest new thing though is All the Way. All the Way is where mom throws a toy, I get it, bring it back, and put it in a basket. Mom is so proud of me every time I do it, and I get lots and lots of treats!

For graduation we played a game. To earn points, I rolled over, bowed, heeled, and lots of other things. It was so fun! I got to watch all my friends do good things too. And at the very end I had to show everyone how I could put my toy in the basket. I did it on the very first try and mom was so happy! Caren gave mom an important piece of paper to take home.

As soon as I got home I took a nap for a real long time. It's tiring getting all these treats for being a good boy!
