Arrival Story:
After we lost Aimee the first days of October, we called Peggie her breeder, she had a litter of puppies due in mid November Savanna is from that litter of puppies. We ask Peggie to choose a puppy for us. It was a long wait through the holiday and a couple of trips in January. Savanna arrived in OKC on March 7, 2010 at 10:30 pm, after leaving Chicago at 2 pm. It was love at first lick. She is so wonderful. I miss Aimee everyday but Savanna has filled up a lot of the emptiness I had felt. I was anxious about getting Savanna I did not want to compare her with Aimee and yet I hoped she would have some of the same characteristics. Well Savanna has been here for 18 days and she is certainly not Aimee but there are 3 things that are similar and warmed my heart. First she loves to snuggle on my shoulder. Second I took the cup measure cap off the laundry detergent and gave it to her and she scampered and played with is just like Aimee used to. Third I went and got out the toys I had put away and she grabbed on to the pink dog that Aimee loved and it is now her favorite toy. She also takes naps in my favorite chair. She is full of spunk and all puppy right now and we are doing everything together. She has gone to the pasture and met the horses Joy and Sage. She is still very cautious they are big, but she loves to go and romp with Izzy. We are working on "come", "sit", "off" and "down". It is slow as she is just 4 months old and has a very short attention span. It will come in time. I'm so very grateful to have Savanna and so very grateful to Peggi for helping us to have her.

Mom and Dad are going to be gone for a long time over Christmas and they wanted me to be looked after well. Jenny their daughter and her husband Jason are thinking about getting a dog. SOOO I am going to live with them for 7 weeks. I am going to fly to Colorado with Jenny and Jason on Friday evening after Thanksgiving.

Mom got me an airline travel kennel and has been taking me with her the past 10 days or so in it so I could get used to it. It is small but I can stand up in it except when it goes under the plane seat then I have to lay down and rest quietly.

Mom has been spending lots of time with me and when I sit on her lap in the evenings she tells me how much she is going to miss me. Dad tells me how important my job is when I go with Jenny and Jason. I'm an ambassador for all dogs but especially Cavaliers.

It has been an interesting year. Since I have come to Oklahoma I have made new friends. Izzy of course was my first friend. She and I have a great time. We run and romp at the pasture and on the few days we do not get to go we have "romper room" at the house. I also have made friends with Joy and Sage the horses. They let me wonder around the barn and even under their feet and watch to be sure they do not step on me. Joy and I get along best. She lets me climb into her feed bucket.
My other barn friend is Chili the barn cat. She wrestles with me and sometimes when I'm resting she attacks me.

I have also made a road trip to Fl. That was long. Most of the time when my family is away Heather stays with us and keeps us in our routine.

One of the strangest thing I had to get get used to is when mom and Heather ride Joy and Sage. It seems strange to see them on top of the horses. The first time I ran up and barked mom scolded me and then encouraged me to fallow along. I was Sages long flowing tail swishing in the breeze and thought it a good idea to catch a ride too. WELL that didn't go over well at all. Sage kicked at me and jumped. Heather and mom both scolded me. I got in lots of trouble for that one. It still looks like fun but anytime I think about it mom reminds me that it isn't a good idea.

My family was gone lots this year, with 2 weddings and Emily going of to the Army.
They were home from SC just in time for my BD. Mom gave me a special treat, Dad took me for a walk first that eve and I got to sleep on the bed that night.

Mom says I growing up well. I still have trouble focusing at times but I'm trying hard. I spend lots of time in mom's lap now. If she sits I want to be in her lap she seems to like that a lot.

We have lots of guests coming for Thanksgiving I will have lots of laps to set in.
