Arrival Story:
My husband and I decided one day we wanted to get a puppy. He had been hounding me for MONTHS before we decided to go and look. Being uneducated about any of the puppy mills/BYB, we went to a local pet store half an hour before they closed. As soon as we walked in and started looking at the puppies, my husband spotted this boston terrier/pug mix. She was in the very bottom kennel. He looked up at me, and I knew from his facial expression this would probably be the dog to melt my heart, and he was right! As soon as I saw her I just HAD to have her!!! So we took her into the play area, and I just needed to take her home right then and there. I couldn't believe how CUTE she was. (well... one of those "so ugly they're cute" which is definitely MY type of dog) The teenager working at the store couldn't believe it when I said how cute she was. In fact her response was, "Really??!! Everyone thinks she's ugly." Needless to say, we took her home that night. Now... me being an impulse shopper, I just HAD to take her home. As soon as my husband and I got into the car, he had a FIT!! He couldn't believe that we had just bought a puppy. He wanted me to sit on it for the night, but I just couldn't do that. And I'm sure he'll say he's glad we took her home too!! Unfortunately I'm pretty sure she came from a puppy mill, but I am so glad that we SAVED her from that evil environment. Considering the person who worked at the store told us that noone wanted this puppy, who knows what would have happened to her. So at least I was able to save one life, but I will NEVER set foot in another pet store AGAIN!! I just could not handle the heart break of seeing those puppies. Rescues and Breeders ALL THE WAY!!!!!
