MY personal Chickie story....

Yesterday was a lovely day so Momsie left us outdoors. She had put the baby chickens with the bigger ones the day before and she piled an expen up against the hole in the hen house so they couldn't sneak out there.
Well, it was pretty boring out there so I decided to try to move that expen. I worked and worked and worked and finally, it moved enough for me to sneak into the hen house, BOL!
Well, Momsie got home from work and put Toto out so he could go pee pee. She instantly saw ME in the chicken yard. She screamed really loudly, and raced out to rescue the babies, but she couldn't find any babies anywhere. Of course, I was still chasing them, hehehe!
As Mom settled down a bit, she also realized there were NO feathers anywhere, either. Hmmmm. Finally I showed her how I got into the hen yard and she put me back with the other dogs and shut the gate. Then, she started trying to find the chickies. It seems that FIVE of them were smart and followed the big chickies down into the lab pen. Two were hiding in the corner of the hen house, and one was hunkered down under the ramp that comes out of the house into the chickie yard. But, where was number nine????
Since she didn't see any feathers anywhere (or, for that matter, any bodies!), she assumed it was hiding somewhere. As she headed into the house to get her flashlight, she noticed something different about the clothes dryer vent on the porch. Looking closely, she discovered the last lost chickie had tried to climb into that vent hole and was stuck right there with just her butt sticking out! Mom rescued her, and within a couple of minutes, all nine babies and the twelve pullets were all eating calmly in their pen.
I was resting, BOL! Mom couldn't believe those chickies were all out with ALL us dogs and no one was even injured or even really scared. Good thing Mom had Toto at the animal hospital and the at work that day, BOL! HE would never have left them living and breathing!!!
Mom said she was very proud of us all and gave us each an egg in our dinner!!!

OMD! You had one busy day with those babies. You would not hurt them, you love them! Sounds yummy, getting an egg in your dinner!
