One fateful day while looking for the perfect pit to adopt, we stumbled upon the most beautiful litter of chocolate red nose, blue eyed puppies at the Oregon Humane Society. We fell in love! We, of course, picked the fattest one who was sleeping. She had the best markings and we hoped she would be a couch potato like us. (As it turns out, you can pretty much train your dog to be a couch potato!) We took her home the same day and we've all been happier ever since. Interestingly, a month later at a gas station, a young man asked me where I got my puppy. I explained the adoption, and he in turn explained that it was his litter of puppies that he surrendered. So, we were fortunate to get some background information on Macy's parents and bloodline, which is something that doesn't happen often in adoption situations. One thing we learned was that Macy's dad was 95 pounds! That scared us! We thought she'd end up being that big too! But she didn't, she's 73 pounds at a year old and I don't think she'll get much bigger. Together, we are helping to change the image of APBT's and show the world how truly wonderful the breed is if you nurture and respect your beloved doggies.
