Arrival Story:
My husband & I saw a picture of a dog of his breed & fell in love with it! He is a very rare breed, there are only 3 or 4 breeders of Kooikerhondjes in the USA. As it turned out, one of them happened to live about 20 min from us! She has just bred her bitch & was taking reservations/deposits on the litter. The first time I saw a photo of the pups online, I knew Ori was the pup who was destined to be ours!

Last weekend, I noticed that Ori had a slight limp & a lump on his right front wrist/ankle. It didn't seem to bother him very much, but, when it hadn't changed by Wednesday, we took him to our wonderful vet Laurie.
Laurie greeted us with a big smile & then got down on the floor with Ori while we were telling her what brought us there. Her sunny disposition changed almost instantly & she said that she had to be honest with us, that this was a tumor. The fact that it came up so suddenly was an indicator that we needed to act quickly & she recommended surgery asap.
So yesterday, Ori had the lump removed. He came through the surgery fine, but the tech told us that Laurie didn't know what the tumor was & was sending it for biopsy.
We were very discouraged & worried from that. We were wondering if we should consider having his leg amputated, or put him down or....But, then we spoke with Laurie & she gave us a whole different picture. She thought she did know what it was, but sent it for bx to be sure. She did not think it was anything very worrisome. What GREAT news & wonderful relief!!
We are still on pins & needles a bit, til we get the bx report next week, but are at least, hopeful that we may expect a good outcome. We still pray...
