Arrival Story:
Saw an ad on kijiji for rat terrier/chi pups. Went out to go see them and there were three crazy little ones playing in a bin. I remembered that I saw four in the ad and asked about the other one...only to realize that the owner had been holding him the whole time! He was so calm and just loved being held that I didn't notice him for the first 10 minutes!!! He was much bigger than the rest of the pups and a total sweetheart; I knew he was going to be my new baby. Love at first sight.

Not sure about his breed. Told that he was a rat/chi and going to top out at 12 lbs, but at 9 months he's 22 lbs, lean. Doesn't have any chi characteristics and had very long legs and solid body.

Gentle Leader of the Pack

So, my mom had been hearing a lot of good things about the gentle leader head collar. I have been super distracted since the snow melted and I don't feel like listening to my mom when we go for walks. I think she's getting frustrated with me because I'm usually a lot better behaved.

Last night my mom decided to try the gentle leader. OMG, she said that it was super expensive, like $35 for a few nylon straps!!! My mom fitted it to my head and I thought it felt strange at first but I am getting used to it.

When we went for a walk last night my mom wouldn't stop giving me treats and she said I walk like a little angel now! She said it's incredible!! On our walk she even tried a no-hands (leash just drooped over her shoulder) loose-leash and I did so well!!!! I feel so much better now that my mom isn't getting peeved anymore.

My mom says you should try it too!!

Step Ahead, Week 2

Well, this is the second course that my mom has enrolled me in. I already completed Family Dog and now I have done my second class in Step Ahead. We have learned stand for exmination, stand-stay, distance down, and we are working on an 'around' finish. My mom says that I pick up everything super quickly....except my loose leash heeling....she says that I don't pay attention and I just try to eat crumbs off the ground instead. I can't help it!

I think mom is gonna try a gentle leader to help me focus.
