Arrival Story:
Bo came to us under extreme circumstances. He wasn't wanted, but the heart of a true animal lover could never turn this one away. He was abandoned on a chain. Luckily someone who frequently drove by the remote area in which he was chained, noticed something wasn't right. He started stopping by and giving him food/water. He told the authorities in the local town who ultimately gave the poor guy to an oldman who basically had a puppy mill. It wasn't an ill intention puppy mill, but the old man couldn't support himself much less 15 dogs all in a small fenced area on his property. My mother took him out of this puppy mill, but it was obvious right away, that he was too much for her to handle with her own progressive illness. I agreed to take the dog to the vet to have him vaccinated, neutered and have an overall physical examination, but in the meantime, the town in which he came from was looking to find him a home. After I got him medical attention, I took him back to my mom's in hopes that someone decent, wanted him. It never happened, so to keep my mom from having to deal with him, I brought him home with me and he has been here since. The vet thought him to be less than a year old. He came to live with us forever on Christmas Day in 2007. He is very small for a pit, has never grown much more than when we first got him. He did fill out though. He was very thin, but now he is buff and handsome. He won me over within a couple of weeks. He is one of the most affectionate dogs I have ever known, but he is mean to strangers. He is not allowed to be social due to his unpredictable behavior, but it is fine, he has me 24/7 and plenty of acreage for him to get lots of exercise and there is something new for him to do everyday. He is now a very happy and well loved dog. He has the strangest personality as any dog I have ever known. He has lots of "quirks" and I believe if he were human he would be diagnosed with OCD. :o)
