Arrival Story:
When I returned to the Country setting after 3 years away at school, I wanted a dog that could run free outside, be in the yard, greet me when I come home, ect. I saw a sign on the side of the road...a cute little spitz had pups and they were selling the pups. One look at her told me she was the one!! The didn't know what the father was, but he must have been a big one, because Cookie is 4 times the size of her momma!!! Finally figured out what other breed Cookies momma was. While we still don't know the daddy, we know the momma was a spitz and a pekenese...which made Cookie a Pickaspit!! lol

Bio:
Cookie is a free spirit. Despite my best attempts, I could not train her to do anything, and she still doesn't mind a thing! But she had such a mischevious twinkle in her eye, that one couldn't help but adore her. I tried to discourage the "hunting", but to no avail. I tried fencing her in, she always found a way out. One day, she went to the road and was hit by a car. She survived, but lost her eye. Once she recovered, she still continued to chase cars or would stand in the middle of the road and make the cars go around. Finally, I knew the only way to protect her would be to put her on a runner. That broke my heart and defeated the very purpose for which I had gotten her. For a year, her "spirit" was broken and she no longer had the twinkle in her remaining eye. She was so miserable. She has finally adjusted to the runner and seems content, but some days I think she still dreams of running through the meadows after that rabit!! UPDATE: December 30, 2006. Cookie left me for the bridge today. Her love of the road finally claimed her life. She has gotten loose 4 times in the last few weeks. I finally decided to bring her inside and make her a house dog. She was so miserable in the house. A door accidently left open gave her her final escape. We ran after her. I saw her get hit. She was gone before I could get to her. I am in tears now. She is finally running free like she was intended to do.....
