WOW!!! What a wonderful honor to be chosen as STAFU's Dogs of the Month for April 2010. We want to Thank STAFU, it's wonderful Administrators and members for this honor. We are making sure you all get a liberal dose of Angel dust containing Blessings, hugs and kisses from us. Woody and Jewls caught a balloon up and interviewed us all! We had such a nice visit. Here is our interview with our Dear Friends.
...Woody and Jewels floated up to Cloud Nine this evening to interview our STAFU Dogs of the Month.....Jewels quietly took dictation...thanks fur your help, sweet Jewels!!!
Here's what I asked the Blackburn Angels....
Just wondering how each of you came to find your furever home with your pawrents? Did they buy you, adopt you, or maybe you were given to them??
Butterball: Was given to us by our friends & husbands co-worker.
Rags: Was adopted from the Phoenix Dog Pound. He had been abused and was frightened about everything and people. With love and patience he made a 380 degree turn around to be one of the smartest, a great watch dog, loving member of the family.
Snuggles: Was a gift from our cousin who bred AKC registered Poodles. I loved her 2 poodles Misty & Cuddles so much that when Misty had a litter she gave me one.
Misty: Was a gift from our cousin she was Snuggles birth mother. When our cousin divorced she went on the road driving interstate and wanted a good home for Misty and knew we would give her that home and love.
Skeezics: We bred Misty with a dark apricot poodle. The breeding resulted in Skeezics single birth. She waited till I got home from work to go into labor. He was a huge puppy and just as I was ready to call the Vet for a C-section she finally delivered him.
Xena: Was a gift from our cousin who gave us Snuggles and Misty. A tiny little thing that was the most loving little gal and 100% lap dog.
Odie: Was a rescue. When we drove up from Mesa, AZ and went to pick up Xena in Price, UT At our cousins parents home they had Odie. And was desperate to find him a home quickly. Cliff was dying from cancer and was unable to care for him like he wanted to. Odie was a barker and when tethered outside would bark almost constantly. He HATED to be away from humans. The neighbors turned them in for a noisy nuisance dog. Cliff had been notified that the sheriff was going to come and pick up Odie and take him to the pound. Well we could not have that and Xena had bonded to Odie it would be awful to split them up. We went for one dog and came home with two.
Precious and Peanut: Were from the second breeding of Tinkerbell to Charlie. They were adopted by our friends and their daughter. We always babysat them both when ever they went out of town. They were our babies first.
Another question....is there a funny quirk/habit/characteristic that your Mom and Dad remember about any or all of you??
Such wonderful memories of our precious babies.
Butterball: Could really talk!!! He could laugh and say food, more food and bull_ _ _ _!!! Any one that heard him talk asking us for treats or when he teased us were amazed at the clarity of him speech/pronunciation. He is also the only pet we have been able to train to wipe his feet before entering the house and to pick up his toys and put them all back in his toy box before going to bed at nights.
Rags: On his first day with us, my husband came home from work to see him for the first time. Rags saw him come towards him and promptly rolled over on his back and peed up the wall and on himself. He was so scared. Budd my husband remarked that what kind of mutt did you get!!!! He looks like a pile of dirty stinky rags and is scared of his own shadow. Hence Rags got his name. Rags quickly became on of the smartest little guys and was the happiest little guy always smiling we have ever had. Due to his earlier abuse Rags suffered from seizures but was controlled with medication. He LOVE TO TEASE EVERYONE!!!
Snuggles: Was a quite a little lady. She loved to dance on her hind legs doing numerous twirling around with ease and grace. She ALWAYS had to be on your right side. And her and her mother Misty felt embarrassed when they got the tiniest bit dirty. She had the tenderest paws. Even hated the feeling of grass or rocks to walk on.
Misty: Was a Daddy's girl!!! She could NOT stand for anything out of place or new!!! She would let us know immediately if a sack blew into the yard a toad appeared or bird. She love to sneak up on them and chase them from the yard. She also had the most weird way to go piddle. She would lift her whole back end way high in the air and then piddle~when done she would walk on her front legs way in front of her business before she put her back legs down on the ground. Her and Snuggles also preened themselves like cats after every meal and before going to bed at nights.
Skeezics: Was Momma's sugar monitor. He would alert her to when it was high by jumping up and licking her not stop till I would go and check it and take medication. If it got too low he would jump up and claw at me till I got up and checked it and ate something. I never trained him he just started doing it and alerted me to go to the doctors and in being diagnosed with diabetes. He ALWAYS had to be at my feet unless telling me my sugar was high.
Xena: The most loving, gentle little girl in the world ~ the smallest of our pack yet would not tolerate being picked on and would put even the biggest pups in their place. That is why we named her Xena ~ Warrior Princess. She LOVED getting dressed up. She always made sure all the other furs had clean faces at all times. She Loved her Odie!!!
Odie: The happiest, friendliest, clown like acrobat in the family. Always smiling and teasing. Loved to do somersaults when he jumped to catch toys thrown in the air. Love his little Xena. He was all Daddy's Boy!!! Had complete trust and devotion. But HATED to be separated from us.
Precious and Peanut: Were the runts of a litter of seven. Precious being the smallest and she was also the toughest of the litter. She loved to torment the her litter mates any way she could. Peanut was loving and hated to be separated from his BIG rottie brother. Both of them thought they were BIG dogs. And neither of them would come when called unless you talked baby talk to them!!!
And another thing I was woofdering....is there one kind of treat that never failed with all of you, or did you all have your own special favorites???
They all loved Milkbone Original treats and rawhide rolls and Mom's special Cantonese steamed rice!!!!
Thank you, Blackburn Angels!! We had a lovely evening floating on Cloud Nine with you sweet doggies!
