Arrival Story: I found Aero on Petfinder in a rescue called Steppinstone Rehabilitation Center in Oconomowoc, WI. In my heart, I really wanted to provide a home for another red/white BC, and would've gone to see any red/white BC that popped up in rescue in the area. After weeks and weeks of no luck, I sorta resigned myself to wait, and perhaps, purchase one from a good breeder.
Aero, whom the rescue had named Bronx, popped up 2 days later.
It felt like fate had took a hand. I wasn't looking for a puppy. In fact, after the horror pup days of Tekoa, I wanted a good 2 yr break from raising puppies.
But Aero was red and white. And he was male. EXACTLY what my heart wanted. So dilly dally no more! I filled out the application. The rescue head contacted me the next day. I'm glad she liked my family. We went to meet Aero on Valentine's Day, and brought him home.
Bio: His back story: I was told by the rescue head that she accepted 4 BCs from a man who bought them with the intention of breeding, and for whatever reason (I'm sure she told me!) didn't want them anymore. He assured her that they had been separated, so she adopted them all out. The family that adopted one of the females took her in to be spayed. That's when they found out she was pregnant.
The family felt confident that they could handle the pups, and the rescue head gave all the tips and encouragement she could. The family eventually contacted her and said they couldn't handle it anymore: the mom had stopped producing milk, the pups weren't eating right. They came back full of worms.
The rescue head was able to get them back on the right foot. And I will thank her everyday for him.
I'm sorry I've been MIA a bit, my dogster friends!!
Today is my birthday!!!
I'm 3yrs old today. Mommy sang me happy birthday and gave me some extra yummy meats. Yesterday she asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Of course I told her I wanted more frisbees!!! She frowned a little when I said that cuz... well I bite through my frisbees so fast!! (but I know she loves me too much to say no..)
Lately, I've been learning how to turn different directions for me frisbee toss. And we're working on a few tricks. Hopefully, I can join a frisbee club soon! (Mommy! Hurry and get a car!)
Mommy and I had a very quiet Christmas. This year there was no tree, mommy didn't torture(?) me with Christmas card photography, no stockings or Santa.
It may sound sad, but I think sometimes Christmas should be celebrated this way. Quiet remembrance and dinner with the ones we hold dear.
After Mommy got home from work, I napped with her on the sofa, until both her and I got uncomfortable and she migrated to her bed. I spent the evening helping watch dinner get prepared. And then watched quietly as my human family ate.
There weren't any twinkling lights around the fireplace this year, but the warmth from my family is all I need!
