Arrival Story:
My sister knew I was looking for a GSP as I have always loved the breed. We knew that our dear Maggie was going to be leaving us and my son was not going to do well without a special friend. Vivy was found on a forum and her "owner" was claiming not to have the time to spend with her. It turns out that he was a puppymill breeder and we think he just wanted to get rid of her because she hadn't come into heat yet. Little did he know that this breed doesn't go into heat until past 1 year old. Thankfully a kind friend was able to pick her up for us before we would get to MI. Vivy went into heat the very next day! I think if she hadn't been picked up by are friend he would of never sold her. Talk about perfect timing. She was not born in a puppy mill but is a registered pure breed and we were able to trace her background and found some nice surpises.

Bio:
Vivace is a special member of the family. When we got her never did we think that she would be doing what she does for her family. She was suppose to just be a family pet and special friend for my special needs son. As time went on we quickly discovered that she had some hidden talents. Just after two week being in our home she started to alert to one of the kids migraines. This is great because he has very little warning when a bad one is coming on and as of date no meds have controlled them. She also has become my service dog. Vivace alerts when I am going into a panic attack. These attacks can be so sever that they go on for hours at times. Vivace is able to bring me out of them before they get to the point that they go on that long and has giving me freedom that I haven't known for years. I can now go shopping without worrying about spacing out or being in crowded areas. Vivace also competes in dock diving and weight pulling. So far this year she placed 1st and 2nd for her weight class in her first two weight pulling competitions. She is also learning the basics of agility and we hope to be doing that in the next year or so.

I finally finished all the SD training. Mom is so happy with me because when I first came to my new home I was one crazy pup. Now I am as calm as can be. The past few months mom has been really putting me to the test. I went on a hayride, lots of food places and around strange animals.

Today was a huge test for me. My human sister had a baton competition and I went with mom and her for the first time. For most of the morning I just layed on my blanket watching the twirlers. I only broke my down when mom was starting to have a problem and I had to alert. Not once did the sound of batons dropping or the music playing bother me. There were even kids stepping over me a few times and I didn't even move. This afternoon mom let me have a break outside because we both needed some fresh air and I got to play with a dog that was being walked off leash in the field at the school we were at. But as soon as my backpack was back on and we went inside it was all business again.

From puppymill pup to service dog in three years. I love my life.

It's been a sad week.

Mom and I are so sad right now. On Wed mom took me for a walk around the park and down a side street where my pal Bach lives. Even though I never get to play with him because he was an older guy we would always talk to each other. Bach was a GSP just like me. When we got to his house I started looking for him just like I always do when I see his people outside. Mom asked his mom how he was doing because he was getting up there in age and we hadn't seen him in a while. Sadly he went to the Rainbow Bridge recently due to heart and kidney failure. Bach was 14 years old. His mom just started to cuddle with me and I knew that she needed some GSP loving and just stood there letting her love me. It was so strange not to see him and I kept looking for him. We will miss our dear friend.

Then yesterday mom looked on facebook and saw that one of my Dogster pals Buddy pasted away suddenly. I will miss his friend ship dearly and hope that he will pop in for a visit once in a while.

Fly free Bach and Buddy. Please say hello to our dear sweet Maggie for us.

Yesterday I shocked everyone by doing something my boy Doug has been trying to get me to do forever. I actually started to play really rough with him. He was loving it and was laughing at me. We got to play like this twice yesterday. I did make everyone in the house laugh when I got too excited and nipped him in the butt. He wasn't hurt as I didn't do it hard at all. But he said I was cheating and told me to stop. Of course I did but then grabbed the dish towel he was using to dry dishes and took off with it.

Me and my boy are two peas in a pod and I really loved being able to play like that and not worry about getting in trouble. Mom said it is fine as long as I stop when told to.
