Likes:
Eating! HA!

Pet-Peeves:
Bailey always wanting to play and never letting her rest for a minute and having to go in her crate. She hates coming in out of the snow!!!

Favorite Toy:
SNOW!!!!!! Hoofies! Balls and anything Mommy might actually throw... for the part of her that thinks its a Border Collie.

Favorite Food:
Royal Canin... treats... fishes from Sundsvall... GREENIES!!!!

Favorite Walk:
Everywhere and everywhere... especially if there is snow, trees, rocks, etc.

Best Tricks:
Sit, down, shake, belly, over, wait, bring it, ball, and wiggling in any position she can to see if she gets a treat! She likes to do every trick she knows in rapid succession when you have a treat!

Arrival Story:
Our really good friends found her lost in Nashville and were training her for SAR. She came to a social several months ago and I (among lots of others) fell in love with her. Then they had one of their puppies get sick and didn't think they could care for her and the other puppies as much so they wanted to find her a home. Since we are involved in the same stuff (social, day care, agility, SAR) and we are such good friends (we live a block apart), they decided we could adopt her.

Bio:
We recently moved to Söråker, Sweden from Nashville, TN. She absolutely fell in love with the snow and our house is against some woods, which is her most favorite thing ever. She is great off lead and so we just let her run all over and whistle when she needs to come in. She has great fun, but always knows exactly how far she can wander. She likes to climb the big mountains of snow that have been pushed up or Daddy has shoveled from the last few weeks. She even sat and peeked over our fence on one of them at the man plowing the snow a couple weeks ago. Daddy also keeps a supply of snowballs on the porch railing for her so he can throw them for her off the porch. She asked for a snow maker machine when we return to the States in 3 years... she said she can't live without the snow. I know she will have a blast when its warm too because she can swim and hike, which are her favorite things.. now if we could only find somewhere to continue her Search and Rescue training....

Sorry to not have written for a while. We had a loooong plane ride over and then I discovered something that I love maybe more than swimming and maybe more than treats (although not really on the treats!)....

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Its great fun. I like to run in it and go in the deepest parts I can find... and then eat it all up. Mommy and daddy make snowballs and throw them and I run and find them and eat them up!!! YUM!

Where the snow gets shoveled makes huge hills and I like to sit on the top of them. I was peeking over the fence yesterday on the one hill watching the man in the snow plow work on the road. I thought he was quite interesting. When I am done on my hill, I like to slide down the side and end up a snowball at the bottom.

When daddy shovels the snow, which he has had to do quite often lately, I get to play outside and sometimes when he throws the snow into the pile, I jump around and try to eat it! Its fun and likes to jump around to get away from me.

The wind blew really hard yesterday so I had to burrow into the snow and sit and wait the gust out. Mommy thought I looked really funny.

I hope that when we go home we can get a machine to make snow for me. I really really like it. If summer is half as much fun as this is, I can hardly wait!!!!

Sweden bound!!

I was going to write a diary entry the other day because mom took me and my foster brother, Odin, hiking at the lake with Rebecca and Dixie. My dad and grandma even went too! It was so much fun. Mom told me to tell you that she took pictures of me swimming - she gets way overexcited when I swim - and put them up on my site this morning! I love to swim... I think I am a reincarnated otter.

BUT... then more interesting information came about. Dad got told in May that his company wanted him to go to Sweden for 2-3 years. I have heard them talking about it, but figured it was just a vacation trip (they went there in August) and did not realize there was more too it than that. Then mom took all of us the vet a few months ago and got our rabies shots, which we weren't due for at the time and made me very confused. She said there is something called a t-i-t-e-r that has to be done so we can fly. I think she must be on something because I tried to explain to her that dogs do NOT have wings for a reason, but she didn't listen. She said we have to climb into the belly of something called a p-l-a-n-e and it flies us there. I don't like the idea of being in something else's belly much, but mom said we would be fine.

So I am going to be a Swedish dog soon and mom said they have some training clubs there that I might could join. She said that there is lots of s-n-o-w there - whatever that is, and she said our new house is up against the woods and right down from it is the water!!! I told her just to build me a doghouse by the water and feed me and I would live down there and she could come visit. She said I was silly girl, which usually means no! Pout pout.

She said there are things there called s-a-l-m-o-n and m-o-o-s-e-s. She said they would be interesting. She said that we can hike there whereever we want that is not someone's land and we don't have to ask permission. That sounds like heaven to me. The only part I don't like is that I have to be on lead from March to August 1 because of the wildlife... even though I never bother the wildlife. Sigh, ohhhh well, mom said she will hike with me when its outside those months too so I get to run around and I will try really hard to learn how to be on a leash and not pull like crazy... she needs to learn how to walk faster..

So December 19 I get to fly across the o-c-e-a-n and see Sweden. Mom says not many people there have mixed breed dogs and there won't be ANY dogs there that are Catahoulas she doesn't think. She said there are a lot of German Shephards there. That is okay.. I am good at being special. Maybe they will let me do some search and rescue training on the stinky stuff!!!

I will miss Dixie really bad!

In other news, Mom took me to the vet Thursday. I thought we were going to pick up Odin. Mom said he was there being tutored (neutered) and would be smarter. I thought that was weird because he is already way smarter than Bailey in MY opinion and he is much younger. He can hike with me off lead and not act like a complete idiot so that makes him a genius in my book. BUT then she left me there and they cut this "growth" off my pad. Now granted it was really bothering me, but now it got this huge bandage on it which makes it hard to walk and mom won't let me run around. For me, the hiker, that is hard work to do. They sent it off to -p-a-t-h-o-l-o-g-y to see what it was. I tried to tell them it was just this lump of skin that was bugging me, but they didn't listen so they sent it off for someone else to tell them that. Mom said that it might be a mast cell tumor but that those are very common and since its on my foot it is less worrisome.. we find out next week what it is. I think its just a smelly piece of skin, but humans can't see that I guess.

Mom said we will write in my diary when we find out. She laughs at the things I write in here... I have to have her type it because I don't have opposable thumbs and would be here all day typing with my nose.

Hugs and kisses!

OH MY GOD! I went hiking!!!!

OH MY GOD.... it finally happened. I mean I have been sitting here patient for several weeks, couple of months even - its hard to say because telling time when you are a dog is really complicated!

Yesterday, mom put everyone in there kennels and I went in and got on my bed waiting for my cookie. But then, she didn't give me a cookie and I was really upset. Then she said the word I love.... HIKING. I got so excited I almost peed on myself! I ran in the living room and whirled around and around until she said to hold still so she could put a leash on me.

But, she let me go without one because she knows I am a good girl and don't need a leash, not like some stupid boy does!

So then we got in the car and went to Dixie's house. Dixie's mommy, Rebecca, wasn't going to take her. She was going to take Lance and Brooke only. I was really upset though because I ALWAYS go swimming and hiking with Dixie. So I pouted and pouted and finally Becca gave in. She used to be my mommy so she is a sucker for my pouting!!!

We got to the park and then walked down for a while on lead... which always sucks because mommy keeps telling me to go slow and I keep telling her to run fast! Finally, she let me off lead and Dixie and Brooke got turned loose and we just ran and ran. Mommy would whistle and I would come back to her, get a treat, and then run up the trail again. I must have checked in a lot because mommy didn't give me a treat everytime, but she kept saying "Go play!"

Then we got to the swimming spots and I jumped right in. I even went down this little clif (maybe 3 feet high) amd jumped in. Mommy said she was surprised because usually I don't like jumping in and climbing back up cliffies. But it was a pretty day and I haven't gotten to swim for a long time. I have a baby pool in the backyard and its fun, but not the same!!!

I chased the leaves in the water and got the ball several times. Mommy was laughing at me and she said I was silly. I swear I could just turn into a fish and be so happy!!!

We hiked and hiked and then we got back in the car and came home. I slept on the way home because I was tired and happy all at the same time! Then when we came home my stupid brothers had to sniff me all over. They are so jealous, but they are not good boys and can't hike with mommy off lead. Stupid Bailey never pays attention. He is such a dork!

Mommy and Becca said we might go hiking again on Tuesday to a new place. Mommy is going to bring my foster brother, Odin, with us because he is pretty good off lead. I think he will have fun and I can teach him about hiking and swimming. It will be fun.

I will write all about it after we go. I know its been a long time since I wrote in my diary, but mommy has been doing a lot of rescue and then went to help the doggies in LA for a few days, so we haven't been doing much hiking or swimming. I feel really bad for those doggies in LA. They must miss their families. I know I worry about mommy just getting lost on the hiking trail... she keeps getting stuck behind trees and then I have to find her... I can't imagine the things mommies and daddies got lost behind in the big wind and rain storms!
