Arrival Story:
Lily is a rescue pup adopted from Save-A-Dog, http://www.saveadog.org. She and her sister (also adopted to a MA home) were left at a shelter in North Carolina.

Bio:
In the shelter I met lots and lots of nice doggies. Sometimes some of the dogs got taken to a little room and never came back. I couldn't understand where they went. The shelter people always looked so sad after that happened. I worried that my sister and I would get taken to the little room. We were just puppies! One day some nice people came and put us in a van with a lot of other dogs and puppies. That was kind of scary but the shelter people seemed happy, so I thought it might be OK. We rode in the van for a looooong time, and finally arrived in New England. The nice ladies who drove the van said we would have a good chance of finding homes here! We got into another van with some friendly people from a place called Save A Dog, and then went to a foster home where a nice family took care of us. My sister got adopted first. Her name was Maggie, but I think she got a forever name from her new people. Finally I met my new Mom and went to my new home! I sometimes still think about all those dogs that went to the little room and never came back. There are so many great animals just needing a home! I hope other people interested in a dog or puppy (OK, or even kitten or cat) will consider adopting from a shelter or rescue. I guess some people want a specific breed, but did you know that about 25% of dogs and puppies in shelters are purebreds? And there are also breed-specific rescues. I am a mixed breed and think that mixed breed doggies are pretty cool--we are cute and smart! Oh--please help end pet overpopulation--spay or neuter your pet!
